Ch. 1 - Back From The Dead

A gust of cold wind blew across his ears, making him twitch as he held his long blanket-like cape close to him to keep him warm. He pulled his kasa down even more to cover his eyes from the falling snow above. His sandals made footprints on the delicate snow-covered ground below him but they were soon covered with even more snow as his feet started to hurt and his fur started to lose it's ability to help him keep warm.

Miyamoto Usagi was tired, cold, thirsty and hungry. He has been travelling for a long time, ever since his master, Lord Mifune, got killed in the battle against Lord Hikiji. He only ate and drank when food and drinks were nearby and only took shelter when it was available. However, this time, he was travelling back to a familiar temple, the Sky Buddha Temple, to visit some old friends. He had been hiking the mountain for a couple of days now and it was very difficult to gain shelter, food and/or water. Luckily, the temple was nearby so he was able to sigh in relief.

Anyway, as soon as he got to the entrance of the Sky Buddha Temple, he was greeted by two guard monks, who recognized him immediately as the other monks ran inside the temple. They came back outside with three familiar faces.

" Usagi! You came back!" Kintaro-Sama ran towards his old yojimbo and gave Usagi a huge hug." I've actually missed you!"

" I have missed you as well, Kintaro," Usagi replied with a smile, patting the head of the child.

" It is great to see you again, Usagi-san," Akemi greeted as she and Sumo Kuma walked towards them.

" Yes, it is an honor to have you here," Sumo Kuma agreed, nodding his head." Ever since you and the kappa warriors saved the Sky Buddha Temple and Kintaro-Sama from Jei, the monks and everyone else see all of you as mighty and honorable heroes,"

Usagi nodded in understanding, slightly smiling at the compliment as they all went inside the temple. Akemi made them matcha and they all gathered around a kotatsu to drink. They chatted as they drank, with Usagi talking about the other adventures he had gone through. Soon, their conversations turned to a certain topic that gave an interest to the ronin.

" Usagi-san, just out of curiosity but I was wondering," Akemi began to ask." may I know any more information about the four kappa ninjas that had helped you in taking down Jei? The only information that Sumo Kuma and Kintaro had given to me is that they are much more different than any other ninja that any other creature has encountered. They are...honorable, not scheming,"

" Well, I do not know all," Usagi admitted." It has been months since I have seen the kappa warriors but I was able to get some more information about them than Kintaro during our journey. Firstly, they are not from this world. They are from a different dimension, where animals, such as us, are not the normal ones walking around the surface,"

" I did not know that a world such as that exists," Sumo Kuma thought out loud.

" I did not believe it either at first but then, Leonardo showed me an image from a strange magical rock-like thing and in there, I saw them with their rat master/father and their 'human' friends,"

" What is a 'human', Usagi?" Kintaro questioned.

" I asked Leonardo the same thing and he replied to me that they are like monkeys but their skins are less hairy and they have no tails. They have either long or short hair on their heads, small ears and small noses. They are warm-blooded, like us, but they can get cold easily because of their fur-less skin,"

" Hmm, I see," Akemi nodded." Anything else?"

" Well, the second thing I learned was that their world is more updated in technology. We may still have carts and horses but they already have vehicles called 'cars' and 'trucks' to help them get around. Also, their roads are not all filled with grass. Some are in stone and melted stone-like hard liquids called 'streets' and 'roads',"

" Are there weapons updated as well?" Sumo Kuma wondered.

" Yes, as I've heard. Leonardo told me that we may have swords, bows and arrows but they have weapons called 'guns', which shoot tiny arrow-like stone things called 'bullets', which are more poisonous than our arrows,"

" Woah," Kintaro was taken back." now, that's a shock,"

" Fourthly, Leonardo and his brothers are called 'mutants', or creatures that have more than one DNA, in their world but they are not accepted just yet in their community. He said that he was going to give humans another chance to accept them as they are but not yet. Next, his brothers are all at the same age but they have an eldest and a youngest,"

" How is that possible?" Akemi asked." How did they find out?"

" I asked the same question and Leonardo told me that Donatello-san used a device called 'The Age Identifier' to find out when they were younger,"

" So, how did it go?" Sumo Kuma got curious.

" Well, as Leonardo carefully explained to me, he is the eldest, Raphael-san is the second eldest, Donatello-san is the third eldest, and Michelangelo-san is the youngest of them all,"

" Um, Usagi," Kintaro didn't hide a smirk." another question from me. Out of curiosity, why do you call Raph, Donnie and Mikey with an honorific when you say their full names but call Leo as his full name only?"

With that, Usagi suddenly blushed deep and began to act nervous.

Yes, he was clearly off guard with the question. He didn't know how obvious it was until the child pointed it out.

" W-Well, um," the ronin tried his best to get an excuse but starting to fail so he hung his head in shame, admitting,"...F-Fine. I-I am fond of Leonardo,"

" Oh!" Akemi gasped." No wonder you seem very close to that kappa. All of your information comes from him and him alone,"

" It is nothing to be ashamed of, my friend," Sumo Kuma reassured, patting the back of his embarrassed friend." There will always come a time where we all will be fond and be with some creature that we love dearly,"

" That is not my problem," Usagi let out a sigh as he placed his cup of matcha down on the kotatsu." My problem is that we are from two different worlds and neither of us could leave each other's worlds. Also, I am a samurai. He is a ninja. I am a rabbit and he is a kame. We are just too different from one another and I doubt that he feels the same way as I do,"

" I'm sure he does," Kintaro tried to cheer his friend up." You're a brave, strong and caring warrior. Why wouldn't he like you?"

Before the ronin was able to say anything else, two of the monks ran to them with their faces filled with panic.

" Sumo Kuma!" they cried out." T-There's an intruder! Right outside! He's killing off our fellow monks!"

" What?!" Sumo Kuma stood up with the others." Who is the intruder?!"

Suddenly, a black spear flew inside, slashing the two into half as they fell on the ground, which got covered in their blood. The four gasped with wide eyes as the spear went back to it's owner, who had a black hood and cape on but they were able to see his four-fingered white hand with claws still sharp as his full-on white eyes were visible from the hood. Akemi immediately grabbed her own spear, Kintaro got his Axe of Power, Sumo Kuma took hold of his kanabō, and Usagi unsheathed one of his swords.

" Who are you, demon?!" the head monk demanded." What do you want from us?!"

The mysterious creature took off his hood and the four friends gasped to find out who it was.

" Hello, warriors," Jei greeted them wickedly as he gave a smirk, showing them his sharp teeth." It is great to see you again,"

" Jei!" Usagi gritted his teeth, holding tightly to the handle of his blade." But how?! How can you still live?! The kappa warriors and I saw your death!"

" The Gods have sent me again. They will keep doing so until everything evil is cleansed from this world, starting with all three of you!"

He raised his spear up and soon, the four battled the evil one. Blades were clashing again and again until Usagi, Akemi and Sumo Kuma fell on their backs with their weapons shattered and their bodies bruised. Kintaro attacked Jei but the villain was much stronger than him. Jei filled him with many cuts and bruises until the golden boy fell down, dropping his axe right next him, nearly broken.

" Your time has come to an end!" Jei cried out as he lifted his spear, whose blade was pointing straight at the young pug's face.

Kintaro's eyes widened as he stared at the blade. He then got a glance of his injured friends.

I need to get them to safety. he thought. They're gonna get hurt even more if I don't do something! Plus, we need to get away from Jei before we all get destroyed!

He lifted his axe and tossed in between Usagi and Akemi, who both jumped out of the way as a portal suddenly opened up.

" Guys, get in! Hurry!" he yelled out.

Usagi, Akemi and Sumo Kuma nodded and grabbed their broken weapons before entering the portal. Jei saw this and got so mad that he threw his spear towards Kintaro, who leapt out of the way and picked up his bladeless axe then he followed behind his friends. The wolf tried to follow behind but the portal closed before he could reach them.

" NO!" he growled in frustration.

He grabbed the broken blade of the Axe of Power and stared at it angrily.

" I will find you," he muttered." All of you. And destroy you! Once and for all!"
