This is my first fanfic for The Legend Of Korra so I hope you guys like it.

Let me say that last Friday's episode had me thinking. When Opal told her mom that she loves her, I couldn't help but my hand when Suyin didn't reply back. Maybe it was because she was so defeated to say anything or what but I decided to make this one shot from Suyin's point of view during the whole confrontation and finally getting to hear the response I was looking for.

Alright, here we go :D

If there's anything Suyin Beifong hates the most, it is being helpless to protect the ones she holds dear. Heck, it's the reason she's in this situation in the first place. Ever since Kurvia ask for her to hand over Zaofu to her, she should have known that Su was not going to let that happen and she probably plan on it and use her own weakness against her. Now, here she and two loyal twin boys, Wing and Wei, are captured and watch helplessly as Korra was taken down right in front of them. Everything was not looking too good for Zaofu at this moment.

"We have to save them" Su heard Opal say and she quickly look up and saw Opal on the flying bison, getting ready to take off from its back so she can head back to them but was quickly grab by Jinora and Ikki. As a stubborn person and mother she is, Su refuse to show any weakness towards Opal.

"Opal. Get out of here! We'll be fine!" She reassured her the best she can but Opal still look unconvinced and the two airbenders were still holding her back if she tries to make a jump that will cause her life. So Su continue to reassure her some more. "Just go!"

Finally having the words seek in, Opal stop resisting and Jinora and Ikki could finally let go of her. When Su saw this, she couldn't help but to feel content knowing that her precious baby girl is gonna be safe and out of harm's way. Hopefully when she gets back to Republic City, she will be able to find Lin and stay with her to this whole ordeal is done. Then they can be a family once again.

"I'll be back for you" Opal cried out suddenly as tears began to stream down her face.

This cause Su to focus her attention back on her again as she listen contentedly to what else she was going to say and no matter what she says, Suyin vow to stay strong and not waver.

Well, that vow was soon broken when she heard the most heart wrenching words from her daughter.

"I love you"

Those words struck Suyin hard in the heart. She couldn't take it. Seeing her daughter in such a distress state was making her eyes water with a bay of tears. Suyin then close her eyes so that she can fight back the tears that threatening to fall silently.

"A Beifong never shows any signs of weakness" her mother once told her. Suyin chuckle lightly at the memory of nostalgia but force herself back to reality. When she felt that she fought back her tears, Suyin then took a deep breath and opens her eyes.

"I love you too..." Suyin whisper into the slight breeze of wind but it was already too late, Opal and the others were gone out of sight. Su can only hope that Opal will receive her words from the wind.

After all, she is an airbender.
