Sorry for not replying any of these reviewers! (really. I am.)
It was a frosty morning. You would have shivered under countless blankets, and never wanted to get out of bed. One of those days when you can go try to outside and everyone will tell you to shut the stupid door. For obvious reasons. That day, it snowed. And I couldn't have been any unhappier.
"I'm cold," I said with a frown.
"Great, Toph," Katara said with her all-to-practical voice.
I pouted. Another day in the lovely old South Pole. In wintertime. When it snowed. If there was anything I hated more than water, it was those few months of cold and dreary days with snow. Lots of stupid, cold, sickening snow. Some people loved the snow. I was not one of those few. For starters, I was Toph, the girl who saw with vibrations through the earth. Snow was a bunch of frozen bits of water. Nope, no vibrations there. To top off all of the cold, I had to wear shoes, which cut off my vision entirely. Aang, being the optomistic idiot he is, had to suggest something utterly stupid.
"Lets go play in the snow, guys!" Aang exclaimed.
"Great idea," The water tribe siblings exclaimed. Even Sokka, who never yelled anything unless he was complaining. Everyone was off to play without me. And I couldn't really say I was enjoying it. I sat down against a snow drift (or so it seemed like one) and huffed. I laid my legs out in front of me and crossed my arms tightly around my chest. This would be a very long afternoon.
After a few minutes of listening to my friends laughing, something cold and compact hit my head.
"Ow!"
"Sorry, Toph", said Sokka, "Katara can't aim if her life depended on it."
"Hey!" (I heard a loud yell from Katara, and the screams of Sokka)
I held back a smile.
"Want to do something REALLY fun, Toph?" asked Sokka.
"What would that be, oh so smarty Snoozles?" I replied. I could feel his strong arms pick me up at this point, and I screamed.
"Stop kicking, Toph. It's annoying, and I think you could have nearly killed me just a second ago."
I stopped, and said in a reluctant voice, "Whatever you want me to do, it better be good."
felt him place me on some sort of fuzzy pile. The pile moved. I guessed that it was some sort of animal.
Before I knew it, I was racing down some sort of slope at who-knows-what speed, and screaming at the top of my lungs. We came to a gradual stop, and I was panting.
"WHAT THE HECK WAS THAT, MEATHEAD?!"
"That, my friend, was penguin sledding."
I got up, and walked in the direction of where I supposed the camp was.
"I'm going back."
"Um, Toph?"
"What?"
"The camp is the other way."
My face seemed to magically warm up considering the biting cold.
"Oh."
I could feel something pick up my mitten.
"Come on, Toph, let's go home."
I smiled.
