Anguish
He hated the fact that Jenny was dead. It was partly because he had cared about her in some small way, partly because Vance was taking her position, and mostly because Abby had cried. If there was one thing that he could not stand, it was something that made his little bat cry.
Vance had broken his team into pieces. Tony was at sea, McGee was back in decryption, and Ziva was being sent back to Israel. Thankfully he still had Ducky and Abby to make his life a little less hectic. They were his constants. As long as he had them, there was still hope of salvaging his team. Jenny had known Vance was aiming for her job and had given him Ziva's papers to become a citizen. All they needed was a signature and to be submitted. They had already been approved. That would keep her around until he could find a way to put them all back together. He wasn't sure how, but he would put his team back together by any means necessary. First things first though, he needed to check on Abby.
Now that the case was closed, she had very little to do. So Abby paced her lab. All she could see in her mind was Director Shepard's face and the small smile she used when pleased or happy. Her thoughts were awhirl with all the things she wished she'd said. That was how Gibbs found her, wallowing in misery with tears causing runs in her mascara and eyeliner. One touch to her shoulder brought her into his arms. Abby tucked her head into his chest and finally let out the large gulping sobs that had threatened to overwhelm her since she found out about Jenny's death. Gibbs held her tightly and let her cry until she stopped quivering. He knew the pain was still there but having Abby in his arms eased his own anguish as much as it had hers. As long as they had each other, everything would turn out fine.
