Ron peaked around the corner. Hermione was sitting in Dad's old chair reading Hogwarts, A History. Again. Ron silently laughed at his girlfriend for reading that book so many times. He took a deep breath.

"Hermione, love?" he asked, stepping around the corner.

"Yes?"

"Would you like to come outside with me?"

"Sure." Hermione said. She hopped up to grab her scarf and boots. She came back a minute later bundled up and ready to go.

Ron took her to the old pickup truck. "Hop in," he told her. Once they were both inside the warm truck, Ron turned the key and backed out of the long dirt driveway. He had learned to drive over the summer, to Hermione's delight.

"Where are we going?" She asked.

"You'll see."

She groaned. "C'mon. Tell me. Please?"

Ron smiled. He wasn't going to spoil the surprise and tell Hermione. He wanted this to be perfect. His grin widened. The look on her face when he told her…

They were getting close. "Close you're eyes, love," Ron said softly. "We're almost there."

Hermione willingly closed her eyes, giggling. Ron smiled to himself and stopped the car. He got out and walked around to the other side, letting Hermione out. He put his hands over her closed eyes lovingly. She laughed. "Ronald Weasley, where are you taking me?"

He chuckled. "Stand right here with your eyes closed."

She stood there, smiling. "Okay, open." Ron told her finally.

Hermione opened her eyes to see Ron down on one knee with a small, open black velvet box in one hand. His other hand was in hers. Inside the box was a stunning diamond ring, the most beautiful she had ever seen. Her face lit up.

"Hermione Jean Granger. I love you more than anything in the whole world. Will you marry me?" Ron's lips barely moved with the words, but she heard them.

"Yes, yes, a thousand times yes!" she exclaimed jumping up to kiss him. He embraced her, and she kissed him harder than ever. At that moment in time, two people could not have been happier or more in love.
