Author Note: During the "Apple Cove" interview, Allison's states that if her character could be any textile material, she would be platinum because "it's shiny and delicate and elegant, but so strong." Upon hearing it, I wanted to do something with it because it's how I see Chloe as well. But this... I had no idea where this came from, but for the life of me, I couldn't finish it... until Fortune happened.

What She Represents

Normally when Oliver Queen purchased jewelry, all he did was point and buy, and within seconds of walking into the store, he'd be walking out with that little bag.

But this was different because he wasn't buying jewelry for some stranger; he was buying an engagement ring for his best friend, his everything... his wife. Sure, it wasn't exactly normal protocol, but when it came to him and Chloe, what was?

He knew her well enough to know that she didn't want one, that the twenty-dollar vending machine wedding band was good enough, but it wasn't good enough for him. Even though Chloe was never one to worry about price, Oliver wanted something that represented how much he cared about her, but also something that represented her.

Oliver purposely skipped over the silver bands because for years, Chloe had always seen herself as second place, and as far as Oliver was concerned... he was the lucky one.

The gold ones were beautiful and they signified something classy and elegant, but they were too common, and Chloe was anything but. She deserved something special... different... and that's when he laid his eyes on the platinum rings.

The untrained eye may confuse it with silver, but with time and care, platinum's true value becomes clear. Chloe was a subtle beauty, someone who didn't go out of her way to be drop dead gorgeous, but to Oliver, she always would be. More importantly, she was also the strongest person he had ever met, because when her chips were lowest, she always found a way.

Now for the stone, the diamond was a given, but not just because she was a rare kind of woman. Diamonds reaffirmed the strength of the platinum band, but they also reminded him of her smile or how she could light up his day with a simple grin.

When his eye caught a ring with emerald accents, he immediately pointed to have a closer look. It made the ring stand out among the rest, and he chuckled, knowing that she would give him an innocent glare for having green present in the ring. Sure, Oliver liked green and he liked the idea of having an accent of him in the ring, but more than anything green reminded Oliver of Chloe's eyes and how they had mesmerized him when he least expected it.

Without hesitation, Oliver had paid for the ring and walked out into the Metropolis streets with a wide grin on his face. They had defeated the darkness, he had beaten his inner demons, now all that was left to do was to go to Star City to see Chloe. Oliver Queen had been a son, an orphan, a bully, a CEO, a playboy, a hero, a lover, a friend... now he was a husband and for the first time in a long time, he was finally going home.
