a/n: My first IchiRuki fic, a bit outdated considering the current events. But c'mon, what IchiRuki shipper still doesn't have feelings for this? -criticism highly appreciated
dealing with goodbyes
I. She joked, but even you could see her feelings in the blue-violet eyes where she tried to reflect the smile on her face. Uryuu, Inoue, and Chad were right there but it was getting harder to remember that it wasn't just you two standing out there. The three of them seemed to try to contort their faces into ones of sorrow but how could they? It wasn't the same for them. When Rukia... when she... she started to fade.. it didn't matter to them. They could still see her. But for you, she was fading away. The girl who you owed who you were today to.. she was going... and there was no telling if this time she was coming back.
You two stared at each other. So many words built up inside both of you but before the courage could've been expressed she was gone.
II. You looked at your bestfriend with somber eyes; why did Rukia mean so much to you? It wasn't something you could sum up in a mere word or phrase, but you managed to find something that might've given Chad the slightest gist of it, "She stopped the rain." You answered and smiled weakly remembering the raven-haired midget that turned your world upside down.
I wonder if I can keep up with the speed of the world without you
III. Yes, it was true that you wanted the power so you could protect what you held dear. (and everyone else) But that didn't prove that you couldn't have wanted it to see her again-because she gave you your power- she turned your world upside down and you had never been more grateful. So, at least you got to say just that, "Thank you."
So you needed to get your powers back. For whatever reasons, you don't need to disclose them, you just- you need them. And you may, you may, need her as well.
IV. "Fool." She spoke in the voice that you had waited one year, five months, and approximately four days and nine hours to hear spoke. You smiled, something that had more than often shown up on your usually perpetually-stuck-in-a-frown face since she came along, "Midget."
These words were repeated so much throughout your relationship and their meanings have been stretched into infinite definitions in accordance to the situation at hand. Though even with their multiple meanings words were nothing to you two.
When amber brown eyes met with ones the brilliant color of the ever-stretching night-sky so many words and actions were exchanged. A simple gaze was all you needed. Whether they indirectly spoke, "I need you." or "I...I need to be alone right now." or the one that held it's place in the moment of now, "I missed you."
Whether the day that the silent stares would reflect the neglected and misused words that were, "I love you." was unkonwn (though it may have been something that never had to be said, even through your silent conversations), but there was no denying it: you had a bond they couldn't form with anybody else. Ever.
