Disclaimer: I do not own One Piece or Bleach
Author's Note: This is just a plot bunny I've had for a while. In Bleach, the Soul Society is heaven, and in One Piece, Zoro wants his name to reach the heavens. So I thought, what if Kunia was in the Soul Society and she heard about Zoro. Also this was edited by myself, so if you see any errors feel free to point them out.
Summary: Zoro wanted his name to reach the heavens so that Kuina could know he fulfilled his promise, and it did.
"I will become even more greater! I will become the world's number one swordsman, so famous that even the heavens will hear of my great name!" – Roronoa Zoro (Manga)
A young girl with short dark blue hair stumbled through a crowded street, wondering where she was. While she was looking around, she bumped into a man in black and white robes
"Hey, you girl! Watch where you're going!" The man told her as he turned around to look at her, a sharp look on his face.
"Sorry," the girl apologized with a bow, and continued to walk on, wondering where in the East Blue she was.
Kuina clearly remembered falling down the stairs and lots of pain, but then all of her memories went blurry. One thing she knew, though, was that Zoro had better fulfill his side of the promise to become the world's greatest swordsman because she wasn't sure that she could anymore.
Sighing, the girl decided that it was best to ask one of the locals where she was, since she had no clue. Finding a woman working at a stand, Kunia walked up.
"Um, ma'am, I was wondering what is this place?" She said, deciding that it would be a good idea to be polite.
"Oh! You must be new," the woman she had approached said, "this is the Soul Society, where all the souls go once they pass on. You are currently in the thirty-fifth district in East Rukongai."
"Oh, so I'm dead then," Kuina said, already having her suspicions since she had remembered how much her fall down the stairs had hurt.
"You didn't know, oh my, I am so sorry! If I had known, I would have been less blunt!"
"It's okay, I guess. There's not much I can do about it, is there?" She said, resigned to her fate, "Thank you for your help, I'll just be going now."
"Wait! If you don't have a place to stay you can stay with me! It's the least I can do for someone new here, plus I could use some help with my business," the woman said as she gestured to her stand.
"Thank you so much!"
Many years later, a young girl was working at a street stand with an older woman working with her. The streets were fairly busy at this time, and many people came to chat with each other about the latest news in the Soul Society.
"Hey, I heard that there's a human in the living world who's such a great sword master that Captain Kenpachi Zaraki wants to fight him!" A man said talking to his friend in the street.
"Really?" The man's friend said, doubtful.
"It's true! They say his name is Roronoa Zoro, and that he's the first mate on some famous pirate ship. Apparently he has a huge bounty and is on his way to becoming the greatest swords man in the world! He even uses three swords at once!"
Kuina gasped, suddenly freezing. Zoro was a pirate with a huge bounty? He fought with three swords now, instead of two? The little boy she had always beaten was on his way to becoming the world's greatest swords man? How much had her friend changed?
"Child, is something wrong?" The woman who had looked after her for so long asked, looking at her worriedly.
"No," Kuina smiled, composing herself, "I just heard something that made me really happy."
Her friend had kept their promise after all these years.
