It was about 4:30 in the morning when Mordecai woke up to floorboards creaking. Looking over at his friend who was still asleep, he silently got out of bed and walked out his bedroom door. As he walked down the stairs he tried not to make much noise incase it was someone trying to break in. When he got to the bottom he walked slowly towards the living room, stopping when he saw his boss, Benson, laying down on the couch. "Benson...what are you doing dude?" Benson, noticing Mordecai before, jumped and nearly fell on the floor. Benson replied while rubbing his eyes: "My apartment is an hour away and I just finished my paperwork so I thought I might as well sleep here for the night". Mordecai realized Benson had been working all day and night with no breaks except to eat lunch then he would have to sleep on an uncomfortable couch. Mordecai scratched behind his neck thinking about how awkward and embarrassing his next question would be. "Would you...uh...would you like to sleep with me? I mean totally not in a weird way! It's just...I know that the couch isn't comfortable to sleep on and I have enough room..." As Mordecai kept rambling Benson smiled and cut him off. "Sure mordecai and thank you." The blue jay paused but then smiled and started off to the room with Benson following. When they reached the room, Mordecai got into his bed and lifted the covers up for Benson. After Benson lies down, he almost instantly falls asleep. Mordecai smiles and watches his boss sleep then softly kisses his forhead and lies down and falls asleep, unaware of Benson smiling in his sleep.
