He watched it happen to his sister, he watched the light leave her eyes, he watched as her chest contracted for the last time, in his arms.
It was raining, on a Friday night. Miley was at a party and I came to pick her up. I looked at her; she had mascara in line down her cheeks.
"Miley what happened?"
"Oliver" she sobbed
I didn't push the subject. I knew she loved Oliver and I knew Oliver was creeping around behind her back. I guessed she just found out. I watched as she fiddled with her shirt nervously. She undid the straps on her shoes and tossed them into the backseat. I rolled down the windows hoping it would cool her off a little bit.
"Jackson, thanks for coming to get me" Miley said with a small smile
"I know how you don't like being a chauffeur" she said again
"Miles its fine I would rather come get you then have a drunk kill you in a wreck." I said smiling at my beautiful sister.
How would he know it would be the last time he would ever smile to her again?
I looked over at her as she put her head in her hands. I heard the gut wrenching sobs. I couldn't take it.
"Miles im sorry Oliver cheated on you." I said
"What!" She exclaimed
"I thought you knew" I said feeling the guilt
"He couldn't have cheated on me! He told me he wasn't in love with me, he told me he wasn't ready to be serious!" she said sobbing
"I saw him Miles I saw him kiss Lilly!"
"He didn't kiss Lilly!" She yelled
"I saw it Miles!"
"Let me out!" she said trying to open the car door
"No Miles come on!" I said
But she had already opened the door.
"Miley! The car is moving!" I yelled as I slowed down
But she was already out walking up the road getting drenched.
"Miley!" I said running after her and grabbing her arm.
"Let me go Jackson!" Miley yelled
I tried to pull her back to me, and then I saw the headlights.
"Miley!" Screamed running to her to push her back
But she pushed me.
It was silent, as I walked to my sister.
"Miley! Miley!" I sobbed taking my sister into my arms
I watched as the car backed up and drove away.
"Miles please Im sorry; I don't think Oliver would do that to you! MILES!" I screamed as I felt her breathing slow
"Miley open your eyes, open them Miles!" I sobbed
She didn't open them.
"Miley im so sorry, Miley please" I pleaded as tears fell on to her forehead
"I love you Miley!" I said as I hugged her tight
Her eyes fluttered open as she stared at me with tears in her eyes. I brushed the hair away from her face as she looked up at me.
"Miley" I whispered
"You will be ok" I said dialing 911
"No" she strained
"Miley you aren't leaving us like this you can't!" I whispered as more tears fell from my eyes
"Jackson please I-I-I love you" She choked as blood ran from her mouth
"Miley no! no! Miles! MILES!" I screamed
But it was too late; I looked into her eyes as the small glimmer she used to have disappeared. I kissed her lightly on the forehead as I held her tight.
"Miley please, come back Miley please!" I pleaded to her lifeless body
I heard the sirens I saw the head lights. People tried to steal her away from me.
"No you can't take her! Leave her alone! DON'T TOUCH HER!" I yelled as they pried her from my grasp.
They took her away from me. This is all my fault. Shouldn't have told her what I saw.
I whispered to the rain "Miley im so sorry"
