"Jayne! Git yerself down here!" Mal bellowed up at him, standing calmly the middle of the cargo bay. Jayne tilted his head sideways to look on confused-like at his Captain.

"Uh… why?" He replied.

"Cuz I done said so! Ya need more'n that?" He said incredulously. "Now I don't like havin' ta go repeatin' myself, dong ma?"

Jayne frowned as he strolled down the stairs and into the bay over to Mal. "What'cha want?" He said, scratching his head a bit. Mal looped his thumbs into the base of his suspenders as he generally did when he was about to dole out captain-ly orders.

"Now, our resident mind reading genius has informed me she's in need of some new… delicate…. attire. I don't feel comf'terble lettin' her roam out all by herself and I need ya to go look after her."

Jayne looked at him like he had about six heads more than he outta. "You came ta the conclusion, all by yer lonesome, that I should be tha one ta take River underwear shoppin'?" He questioned, thoroughly confused.

"I did at that." Truth be told, Simon and Kaylee were busy, he didn't have the heart to make Zoe do it and he had plans to chat up Inara. Jayne looked about the cargo bay suspiciously, almost as if someone were gonna pop up yell "Surprise!" and tell him Mal was kidding with him. When nothing like that occurred, he laughed a small little laugh to himself and shrugged, still confused.

"Uh… ok."

"Jayne I don't wanna hear none of yer moanin' and groanin' on this!"

"I said ok."

"This is not the time ta be arguing with me!"

"Mal, I said I'd do it!"

The Captain frowned a bit and seemed to reconsider. "Uh… I guess ya did. Sorry, I was expectin' more of a… struggle, I guess."

The mercenary nodded. "Understandable."

"Yer okay with this?"

"Uh… sure. Girls needs new duds. She aint but a bitty little thing, don't want her causin' a scene when some hun dan thinks he can get away with more'n he can." He replied gruffly.

Mal tilted his head and stared at Jayne like he'd never seen him before. "… Well, yeah."

"So, when's she wantin' ta head out?"

"…'Bout now-ish."

"K then, I'll go an' get 'er." He said and walked off in the direction of River's bunk. Not five minutes later they appeared, walking through the cargo bay and down the already open ramp, cool as you please. "See ya later Cap'n." Jayne mumbled, trailing behind River a little bit.

Mal watched them with a pleased little expression on his face. As he hit the button nearby and the ramp came up he snapped his suspenders back onto his chest with a loud crack and muttered proudly. "Yup, I still got it."

As soon as Jayne saw the ramp go all the way up he slung an affectionate arm around his girlfriend. "Does he know? 'Bout us?"

"Remarkably he does not."

Jayne chuckled heartily. "I thought fer sure he done figured somethin' out."

"Yes, it would be logical as he's the only person on the boat who doesn't know about us. But he remains as yet uninformed."

"Not the very brightest crayon in the box, is he?"

River giggled. "Speak well of him, he basically handed us a date on a silver platter." Jayne frowned.

"Guess he did."

"A date where I must take off my clothing to try on under things."

Jayne leered down at her and pulled her closer to her side. "Good man, our Captain. Good man."
