Robert rose from his chair by the fire and looked over at his wife who was absentmindedly staring through the french windows out onto their estate.

"A penny for them?" He said as he strode over to her and slid his arms around her waist from behind, resting his chin on her shoulder.

Cora placed one hand onto his and caressed his cheek with the other as she let out a small sigh. "Sometimes I have to remind myself just how fortunate we are, Robert, to have the life we do. To never want for anything."

At this she turned her head slightly to take in his countenance. "To have each other."

Robert fluttered his eyelashes as he looked up at her face. "We are indeed lucky, my love, to have this at our disposal every day."

Robert's eyes moved from her face to look out onto the gardens and then back to her. He lifted his chin from her shoulder and pulled her round to settle in his arms.

"But then it is my birthright. I am the Earl of Grantham and you are my Countess. Downton is our home."

Robert lifted a hand and gently stroked her cheek with his thumb. "The lucky part is you choosing me. I give thanks for that and you every single day."

Robert smiled warmly at her before leaning in and sealing his lips over hers in a passionate kiss.

"Yes, I am the luckiest man alive."
