The Unknown Ones

Prologue

An electric shock ran up my arm. Then another. I tried to open my eyes, but I found that I couldn't. A buzzing sound filled my ears, irritating and loud. I tried to yell, but my throat was dry. What was going on? I tried to remember what had happened earlier, but all that I could come up with was that I was running from something or someone and then everything blacked out. I had lost something, and I was sad and confused, but more than ever, terrified. Nothing made sense.

I tried moving again and found that I could slowly move my fingers, each one cracking with every movement. Some feeling came back to my body, and when it did, something in my head told me I was freezing and wet. I shivered and I could feel a heat burning inside of me. I finally lifted my hand, then my arm, slowly because it hurt. I could feel the blood rushing back to my body, life coming back to me. I felt my face, and the word ice, popped into my head. I tried taking it off, then screamed in pain as it pulled on the skin of my face. I gasped trying to think of what to do next. All I knew is I had to get up. So I did my best. I kicked my feet, but they were frozen too. I tried again and again, but finally I dropped my hands, tired and defeated. Then I slowly drifted off, sleep taking the best of me.
