"Aina," he whispered silently to the cloudy sky as he lay on his back with his arms folded behind his head. Shiro had been watching the rapidly darkening sky for hours. His teammates had long ago given up on getting him to come in.
He couldn't imagine what his life would have been like had he not met her. He knew it was somewhat ridiculous to love someone he had only met once, and yet he couldn't deny what he felt. He knew he could be in serious trouble if his superiors were to discover it. She was the enemy, but his heart couldn't help but beat a little faster when he thought of her.
Nearly laughing aloud, Shiro closed his eyes with a soft smile. He could still picture her perfectly. He could still see her beautiful silver hair, endless blue eyes, and soft, creamy skin. He needed to feel her, see her, and smell her. The way she had looked at him with such sorrow when she had left him out in space would forever be etched in his mind. He had been surprised at the hope those eyes had contained; hope that one day – someday – they would meet again.
He moved an arm to cover his chest pocket, his fingers grasping the old pocket watch he kept there. He caught himself doing that often, as often as he thought about her at the very least. Even his dreams were haunted by the space angel he had found. Every morning, he awoke with the familiar sense of peace, yearning, and desire. He would have thought he would be embarrassed to wake up like that every morning. Yet, even that seemed right. He couldn't explain it even if he wanted to.
He only knew that he loved her. The beautiful woman had captured his heart, effortlessly. He missed her, longed for her, yearned for her. He wanted to look into those soulful eyes again. He needed to hold her tightly to his chest. He craved to make love to her, just as he did a million times in his dreams.
He didn't know if he should be happy or sad, laugh or cry. He loved her and missed her, and yet he was happy to have found her. He felt his heart twist sometimes when he was reminded that she wasn't with him. He both mourned and celebrated her. It was a wonder it didn't cause him severe mood swings.
If only she weren't the enemy. It tore at his soul. That was the only regret he had… That they hadn't met in times of peace. He loved someone who was the enemy. The enemy! Yet, he couldn't deny the fact that he had fallen in love with her. He knew such thoughts only brought pain, yet he couldn't help himself. He felt more than a little guilt that he was betraying his cause, his teammates, by loving a member of the other side.
How could their love triumph in the face of such adversity? How could they be together now? Could they ever love each other openly? Was their love doomed to remain secretive, traitorous, unfulfilled?
Shiro felt a wet drop on his cheek. He opened his eyes, noticing the rain that had just started to fall. He smiled at the cool rain, and found his thoughts suddenly clarify. For now, he'd rejoice in his love. He'd let the sky weep for him instead.

AN: Just a rewritten version of this really weird crap I wrote a while ago. ^_^; It's a tad better, but with an idea that's concrete, I find I don't change much. And no, I couldn't think of a better title. I KNOW it sucks.
Lovies!
