As Svetlana Czamarl walked through the fields outside Belinsk, talking to the mute boy walking next to her
"Matthew, have you ever thought about what would have happened if the umbra gear had failed?"
Matthew looked at her in shock "…"
"Do I really have to use spirit sense on you?" asked Sveta "We should really think of some way for you to signal me so that I know to use spirit sense, so that I don't know your just thinking about something I shouldn't read off of you…"
Matthew thought for a moment, then tapped his wrist once, something that, if anyone were to try to figure out why, would just look like a nervous habit.
Sveta noticed and used spirit sense on him
"Perfect" he thought "looks just like a normal nervous twitch, but now we can talk in peace"
"Right, she thought " now all we need is some random thing to rant about, and well be a paranoid conspiracy theory!"
"Hah" he "yeah right"
"! You can hear my thoughts? I thought spirit sense was a one way deal!" she thought frantically
"Guess not", Matthew thought, "guess we need to be careful about what we think about now, because spirit sense is a two way street now"
"This is a good way to talk, isn't it?" asked Sveta.
Suddenly, a great flash stopped them in there tracks, making them both step back in alarm
"The hell!" thought Matthew
"What the hell!" Asked Sveta "what was that thing?"
