The Fall

Dean was sprinting as soon as he heard the splash.

Arms pumping, tearing off extra layers.

Impact was a shock of cold, a slap of pain, but he didn't care. Dean swam hard until he hooked an arm underneath the flailing form and kicked to shore.

He cupped cold cheeks, scanning for blue lips or blood.

"I'm f-fine, Dean. I j-just slipped."

"You do that again…and I'll kick your ass, Ben." Dean yanked the boy to him in a soggy hug, knowing love when he felt it.
