The floor was cleaned until it sparkled, the plants were watered for the day, and this was the third time she was reading the trends in the magazine. If this was any other day Ino would have been happy. But she guessed it was the promotion, as a chunin and all there was a lot of paperwork that needed to be done, and unfortunately, she didn't feel like it. No completed paperwork meant no missions, with no missions, no joining the team on said missions. So it was just her with her thoughts.
*ring*
Just her, her thoughts, and a customer.
She didn't bother standing, her side view being enough to realize it was a shinobi. She did, however, catch a glance when there was an audible poof and saw the umbrella vanish. The person didn't take notice of her however and seemed to be searching for seeds rather than the plants out on display.
"Any Leaf Gel?"
"The stuff to make ointment?"
A nod.
"Fresh out I'm afraid. It was gone by the first week of Fall."
"Paperbook Leaves?"
"Same."
The customer's shoulders slumped, a sense of nervousness as his hand moved to one thing before retracting. "C-can you check the back?"
Her magazine lowered, if he was facing her he would have seen her look of contempt. As if by somehow that happened he cleared his throat, "sorry..."
Hastening he grabbed seeds from around the display window before bringing them to the front.
Ino smiled when she saw him, setting her magazine to the side. "How's Konoha been treating you since your return?"
"Uh... same ol' same ol'," she had to stop her grin from surfacing, his usual sheepish look and wide smile making it hard to do so.
"Eh, it'll get better. Billboard Brow doesn't stay mad for long." they failed the bell test again, but she was sure that Sakura was the type to take her anger out on training posts now instead of giving a punch to her teammate.
"Yeah..."
She almost frowned, the sudden presence of a faint chakra around Naruto giving her pause.
"...These are a lot of seeds, any reason?"
"There may have been an accident at home," Naruto cleared.
"Really?"
"W-well, bugs kinda infested my plants while I was away, so..."
"Replacements?"
"Yeah."
She ringed the last of the packets, making sure to smile while doing so. "well here you are," she set them down in a small bag before taking the money from the counter.
"Tell Sakura I said this place is boring okay?"
His smile reappeared a moment too late, Ino noticed.
He took careful steps to the door as if giving the impression of someone who didn't want to be seen."Will do," he called back a second later before a clone transformed into an umbrella, the closing door letting in a cold chill with plants following tirelessly as did the unfinished paperwork that was sitting off to the side of her.
*ring*
Was that genjutsu?
