You're It by Here's Your Cheese Omelette

A/n: Every now and then, there are events that right away inspire us to write a fanfic. In this case, it was a manga about vampires and vampire hunters.

I wonder when this game of ours began. This game of tag, wherein I am always the one running after you.

You were the natural rookie. You had the looks, the brains, the bloodline, and the talent, so of course, you succeeded brilliantly. I, on the other hand, was the class idiot – a failure, a loser and a monster.

I never let that stop me from running after you, though, and declaring you my rival.

But I do have to admit, you really made me work hard when I was 'it'. I can no longer count the number of beatings and bruisings I got while training just so I could make it to your level.

You became my goal and led me to achieve things that may have been impossible without you as my driving force. You made the game interesting, and for that, I'm happy. It was challenging, and so, every time I managed to catch up to you, I felt so proud to be able to stand next to you as your equal.

He somehow always manages to come up to my level. It's amazing, really. How he actually puts every thing he's got into being able to see eye to eye with me, and, although I don't show it, I admire the idiot for that.

He has this unshakable drive to prove himself, to reach the goal he set himself, and to satisfy no one else but himself. He doesn't try to conform to what society expects him to do or wants him to do. He does things his own way, and because of that strength, he possesses a certain kind of power that no one else but he has.

He has a power that draws people to him and makes them want to stand alongside him, and that same power makes me want to slow down and wait for him to catch up, just so I can be one of those people next to him.

I try to resist, though. Whenever I slowed down a little too much, I remember our chase and I pick up the pace again. I can't let the game end after all. It's much too fun.

However, the longer we keep going, the harder it becomes for me to keep running. I want him to catch me, I find myself feeling. I don't want to keep running from him anymore. I want to end our game, but it's much too fun to stop.

I never really found our twisted little game of tag fun before. Not really. It was interesting and challenging, but not so fun. Not when I had to see you looking back at me and smirking every few days because I had yet to reach your level.

But now, it's different. I had finally caught you in a manner I never thought possible, and now it's my turn to take the lead. The game has become fun because I can see how much the rules have changed yet still remain the same.

We still run, it's still a chase, but our purpose and roles have become very much different.

You love me and care for me – and yet, no matter how far I've fallen for you and how deeply I feel the same way you do, you will never know, because I will never tell you. I'll keep you guessing and keep you unsure, and that's what makes it fun.

So we shall continue our game of tag, Sasuke, but with one small difference:

Now, you're it.

A/n: Drabble done! I consider this a drabble, btw, because it's kinda vague how I wrote it. Not very well written…

Now, I, like, seriously read the manga that inspired me like one year ago. I only finished this now on May 2, 2010 at 4:49 am. Just saying how long it took me to finish TWO MS PAGES! D:

Please review and tell me how you found it. Thanks.

BC:

For a drabble, it's very nice. :) I knew it was a SasuNaru right away! Hehe. :)

It isn't vague ui! I really like it! A refreshing little read. Kudos, Kimmi :D

And ohhhhh Sasuke, just fall why don't you. o.o

denz :P
