Based on Season 2, Episode 5 "Simon Said"

Prompt: "So I'm a freak now?" – Sam "You've always been a freak" – Dean

And as much as Sam wanted, to he couldn't deny that. He was a walking encyclopedia of all things weird, not to mention the years of schooling that were stuffed up there too. And the pre-law stuff from college: all rumbling around and making a noise in his head.

Sam never forgot anything – he would lie awake at night, his brain testing his memory; quizzing him as if his life depended on it. Sometimes it did. Sleeping was almost as bad. Being unconscious was to drop your defences and allow the memories to attack; they ripped through his dreams and lay siege to his nightmares.

But more than anything else, Sam was cursed with memories of Dean. Moments with him were all a blur – except for every second, and every word. He could recall every accidental touch from his brother, every rare but purposeful hug.

He knew every scar on Dean's body: could remember exactly which demonic creature had made them and when. Sam could remember the feel of Dean's skin beneath his hands as he had patched up more than half of them.

And with complete clarity, Sam could remember how Dean would pull away sharpish if those hands lingered too long. Pull away, mutter and excuse, and avoid Sam's eyes.

Sam didn't need Dean to tell him he was a freak – he knew it as well as he knew Dean's heartbeat. It was part of Sam – so very inevitable.

And as Dean glanced across the front of the Impala at his little brother, he knew Sam wasn't the only freaky one.
