Seeing

Unlike what he thought of her, she wasn't superficial or trivial.

She saw to him more than he'd ever think.

It wasn't just his looks or gruffy charm.

Somehow, she could see through to him more than anyone else could.

She could see beyond his callous untrimmed words, the harshness in his voice, the hoarseness and roughness.

He was the best kind of guy, as far as she could remember him, stoic, holding himself high, he had pride ,he was not the cookie cutter type of gentleman but still he had a type of gallantry she had never seen before.

He was dependable and responsible, He was simply: a man who would protect his family and friends, or die trying, a born rebel.

A little boy who grew up before his age like all of them.

So bad he couldn't see more to her, than her being the mayor's daughter.

He was a diamond in the rough, a real good guy but no angel.

He was always hostile and a little envious.

She wasn't responsible for their misery.

She wasn't responsible for his misery.

She didn't take Katniss away from him.

She tried to tell him that, she tried to convince him of it, but to no avail.

She couldn't be Katniss, she will never be Katniss.

'Anyway, he doesn't care' she thinks.

A tiny part of him grew to love her.

But, He was madly in love with Katniss.

He knew that.

She knew that,

And it hurts.

It burns, Just a little less painful than the fire blazing over head.

He was an inferno of anger and rage.

A Brute in his own right, a man who could play war, very well indeed.

'For every war, there must be collateral damage'

Prim was collateral damage.

She was collateral damage.

Capitol will soon fall, he'll make sure of it, for as much collateral damage is lost, it won't be lost in vain.

War is over, she could see.

Not from down there, from up here.

She is scared of him,

She is scared for him.

She is afraid the fire would keep raging in his heart, that he will turn into the tyrant he had always hated, always despised, that he will make district 2 and 12 the new capitol.

She is afraid vengeance will take him far.

She is afraid he will waste his life, waiting.

Waiting on Katniss.

'He couldn't be waiting on me' she thinks

Even if so, she doesn't want that tiny part of him that loved her to wait on her.

His job requires tough decisions to be made,

Not the very best of ones for sure.

But the ones that will keep them alive and safe,

The ones that will ensure district 2 and 12 will prosper, ones that ensure no new capitol shall rise over the rubbles of the old.

Ones that rein any chaos.

He is pegging his so called lack of 'love life' on work.

His mother keeps bugging him about why he is single.

She is telling him that he has to move on from Katniss.

He can't lie to himself.

He loved Katniss, he really did, yet, it was easy to let it slip through; let it pass away; because she is alive and happy, because she simply knew he did.

He can't lie to himself.

There is a tiny part of him waiting on someone, a tiny part of him that loved someone, someone he didn't know how to forget, because she is gone, because she didn't know he loved her, at least this profound.

Because when the winds from District 12 brew towards him,

He could hear whispers, he could feel caresses and he could always smell Strawberries,

And it makes it harder for him to forget.
