He sits there contemplating the past and laughing at the fact that no one would believe it. He's not known for being contemplative, deep or reflective. He's known as a prankster, a joker and an annoyance. He loves like everyone else and sometimes he loves deeper and harder than others. He knows loneliness and betrayal, he knows what it's like to have nothing and then lose everything. He sits there looking down on all those he loves and all those he had to leave behind and he thinks that it's unfair. Time was too short and life wasn't full enough to satisfy him. He still feels an ache in his chest where all his unfinished plans and unrealized dreams rest and he regrets. When he sees them crying he cries too, when they laugh, he laughs and when they are happy he smiles.

They know he's watching and sometimes they talk to him. The old hag tells him he had no right to leave; a pink haired girl who cries the most says she loves him and misses him, swears she'll hit him when she sees him again. A brown haired teacher who has clouded eyes on some days and on others laughs at all the old pictures, and a silver haired man who feels he failed and tells him that. The old pervert who calls him a brat and finally the raven haired boy who won't believe it's true.

When the man sits next to him and puts his arm around him, the boy can see the sorrow and the pride. They don't need to speak and the boy knows who this man is. He could be angry but he's not, he could be sad but he feels it's silly. When the man opens his mouth to say something the boy turns, looks at him and smiling says "Hi". the man doesn't speak and instead smiles and stands. Holding his hand down to the boy he pulls him to standing, "Let's go see your mother" and Naruto has everything he's missed and misses everything he had and that's ok. Because he'll see them someday and when he does he'll still be Uzumaki Naruto and he'll still be loud mouthed and a prankster and he knows they'll still love him just as much as he loves them.
