Hello everybody, and welcome to the sequel of "A new power"! This story focuses on the things that happened in the last chapter of the precursor of this story. But this story here is a lot more darker than the last, and there is more violence and blood, but only in one or two chapters.
This story still is Maviva, but I hope everybody will enjoy it.
Disclaimer: I do not own Wild Kratts. They belong to the Kratt bros., and to...whoever owns them as well.
A new enemy
Prologue
Somewhere in New York, in the middle of a cloudy, moonless night, was a dark figure that ran through the streets. It never stopped to look anywhere, its goal had already been decided. It had to get there, had to fulfil its mission.
Some minutes later, it reached the place. A villa with black and grey walls, darkened windows and no decorations. It really seemed to be in the wrong place, surrounded by the other villas which were colourful, made of plain red or painted bricks and stood in superb gardens full of flowers and with a bright green lawn. Compared to them, the black house was boring, even the lawn that surrounded it was cut down to some inches and it looked more grey that green. Not a single bush or tree stood there, not even a small flower, only plain grass.
But even that was too much for the man living there. There was almost nothing he despised more than nature. If he had the possibility to say something about it, all forests would be cut down and replaced by his factories, all grass would disappear and be replaced by solid concrete, and all animals would be either killed or caught for him. They were just vermin. Vermin under his foot that waited for him to smash them.
But he couldn't do anything. Every time he tried, he was stopped by these...these nature freaks! They always managed to defeat him, to stop his plans, to destroy his devices. He hated them, perhaps even more than nature. The only thing he wanted to do was to dispose of them, once and for all.
The figure outside knew that, and hoped to use it to its advantage. But first, it had to get into the building without being seen. The front gate alone was guarded by four, musculous men that wouldn't let anyone pass. They couldn't be knocked out, were immune to diseases and even gas or chloroform didn't work. They only had one weakness: They were robots. Machines that were created to do all the work that required muscles. Every single one of them was controlled by the same system, so it was easier to get all the information. But if somebody managed to hack into that system, he would be able to control them all. That's why it had an ultra-strong protection against viruses, Trojan horses and hacker attacks of all kinds. Nobody would be able to get inside. Nobody, apart from the figure that was still waiting.
It had knowledge of things that the humans could only dream about yet, was stronger and more intelligent than anything else on this planet, and possessed technology that was more futuristic than anything the scientists from today were able to invent. Itself was more of a computer than a human being, but it still lived and breathed. It was a hybrid, a cyborg, a mixture of human and machine that was so powerful it could destroy a mountain if it wanted to.
But it didn't want such minimal, such unimportant things. The only thing it wanted was revenge, revenge for the things that happened to it, revenge for the pain he caused it, revenge for the attack that turned it into this...monster. Even if, in a sick kind of way, it liked its new powers and abilities, it was still a horrible price it had to pay for them.
It had already lost most of its body, and even though it had been able to stop the flesh of slowly disappearing, with every passing day it lost more of its humanity. Perhaps it would only take a few more weeks until it completely turned into a mind- and heartless monster. The only thing that still made it hold onto the little bit of sanity it had left, was its thirst for revenge. Yes, it would perhaps destroy the whole world and then destroy itself, but before that, it would make him pay.
"Martin...Kratt!" It clenched its teeth in anger and hatred. Oh, yes, he would pay! He would, in his turn, feel the pain that he had caused, the pain that destroyed it. His suffering would be great, he had to die in the most painful way possible, and it already knew exactly how it was going to happen.
But in order to do that, it had to find an ally. It didn't really need one, but that was the best way to lure him to it without him having a single idea of what was waiting for him. It would be the ultimate trap: They would walk right into its arms and as soon as they noticed, it would already be too late!
The only problem that was left to solve, was how to get to the only man who would be willing to help it. It needed some way to get near these guards, so it could get into the system. From its hiding place, it began to scan the robots completely. Then, as soon as it had gathered enough information about them, it began to change. Not only its appearance was the same as them, but it even adapted its communication wavelength so they wouldn't notice the intruder.
Slowly, it walked up to them, imitating their hard movements. Something crept up inside it, something it hadn't felt for months: fear. If these robots realized that it was a stranger, they would blast it to bits. But it pushed the feeling aside. Even if they would notice, they wouldn't be fast enough for it. But it preferred not to let that happen, it was better if everything would go smoothly.
Some seconds later, it reached the gate. As it thought, the robots just walked aside, expecting a chance to recharge. The figure walked up to one of them, and touched his arm. Before the robot could react or alarm the others, it had already linked with the guard. Almost as fast as light, it scanned the computer-chip inside him. There were all the informations it needed to get inside: The codes for the door, the passwords to hack into the cameras and the wavelengths it needed to deactivate all the alarms. After it had finished, it erased all informations about it from all the robot's mind-chips.
Then, it changed back to its own form and began to move, faster and faster on one spot, until it vibrated too fast to be seen by the security-cameras. Invisible like that, it could just move up to the house until it was close enough to scan it, too. With the information it had now, it had already hacked into all the computers inside in the interval of the tenth of a second. There, it erased its figure from all camera recordings that had already been made since it came close to the area, and installed a continuous playback.
As soon as it had finished, it got to the door, typed in the password and slipped inside. The cameras filmed it, but the film couldn't reach the computer. Instead, only the picture of the last ten minutes was shown again and again. But even if it prepared this, it had to be fast. The owner wouldn't be fooled forever, and it had to finish its business before it was noticed.
It began to make its way to the main room, where it would find the man it was looking for. Everybody else would be incredibly nervous, with all these guards patrolling the hallways, but the figure wasn't. It knew that it was invisible to every single camera in this house, and to every human being, too. But still, somebody or something could still bump inside it and reveal its location, so it had to be careful. Walking just next to the walls, leaving more than enough place for any robot or human that wanted to pass, it finally got into the main part of the villa. There was the control room, with a robot inside. Since he wouldn't show himself to the outside world, he had his normal appearance. Some kind of pyramid, but upside-down, with a hemispheric head and two arms that looked like vacuum-cleaners.
He didn't notice the intruder, but it could freely examine the screens. They only showed the empty hallways, just as planned. Then, it read the computer to know what really happened: The man it needed had just walked out of the living room.
Even if it didn't feel like it, it grinned. Perfect. But it couldn't rejoice yet, there were still three halls it had to get through.
Without any noise, it reached the last hallway that separated it from the living room. That one was too empty to be without any alarm systems. The figure quickly changed its vision to x-rays. Like that, it could see many wires that ended in the walls. The devices they powered were activated, so there had to be some sort of movement alarm. To see where it had to move so it wouldn't be noticed, it took out a small box with some powder and blew it around the room. Instantly, it saw a multitude of lasers all across the space. The figure checked if it could deactivate the alarm, but it was secured by a special password. There didn't seem to be any way to get through without activating the alarm, at least no way for a normal human being. But the figure wasn't a normal human.
The only place without lasers was the ceiling. Impossible to reach without climbing gear, and even if somebody managed to get up there, he wouldn't get too far.
But for such a futuristic cyborg, even the ceiling wasn't an obstacle. The intruder pressed on a button on its arm and typed a code into the appearing keyboard. Instantly, the gravity acting upon it shifted, until it stuck to the ceiling. It made itself smaller to fit over all the lasers and crawled over to the other side. After it got there, it made the gravity shift again and stood back on the ground. As soon as it stood firmly on it's two feet it changed into invisibility-mode again, which it had to switch off while crawling under the ceiling. Instantly, it started to walk towards the living room. The door was locked, but that wasn't a problem. The cyborg just scanned the lock and reproduced the key, all this in a couple of seconds.
A quick turn of the key and the door opened swiftly, without creaking. The cyborg got inside, closed the door and locked it again, then turned around to look for a hiding place. But first, it scanned the whole room for cameras or other security-measures. It didn't find any, probably because the owner wanted a bit of privacy and surely thought that nobody would get that far without his permission.
Switching off the scanner, it looked around the room normally. The walls were in the same grey as the walls outside, and the curtains were pitch black. The only things that weren't so depressing were many portraits that hang on the walls, but even these didn't have many bright colours.
They all showed the same man, well, at least it was the same face, but with different haircuts and some of them had beards. The two things they all had in common was their extremely fair skin and their bright green eyes.
The only furniture inside was a black couch with dark red cushions and a desk made of ebony. Behind this one was the biggest portrait in the room: the current owner of the house. He had pale skin and green eyes like every other portrait, but contrary to most of them he didn't have a beard. He wore a black turtle-neck shirt and grey trousers, and his hair was black as well, but it was brushed to the side and got stuck there with the help of gel. That man dominated the room, it was clear that he was the chef here. The figure smiled, this was its man.
But it knew that it had to hide. It would probably impress him more if it had the moment of surprise on its side. Relying on its skills, it disappeared in a dark corner and almost merged with the wall, its camouflage was that good. As soon as it knew that it was well hidden, it smiled again, but that smile was cold. Now, it just had to wait.
It didn't have to wait long, the man it needed already came in a few minutes after it had entered the room itself. He just opened the door and sat down on the couch, trying to relax.
"These kids, I hate them! Can't they just leave me alone?" he spoke to himself. Some Zachbots flew in to help him, but he send them out with a wink of his hand.
That was the moment the figure had been waiting for. It began to speak.
"Zachary Varmitech!"
Instantly, he whirled around, panicked. "Who's there? How did you get in here?"
It smiled. He was too confident. Too confident that nobody would be able to get inside his house. But this would be his doom one day.
"Where are you?" he continued to ask, frenetically scanning the room for the intruder.
It finally stepped out into the faint light. It could clearly see the man gasp.
"Who...What are you? Wait, aren't you the one that defeated us when we were so close to finally getting rid of Martin Kratt?"
The figure flinched at these words and clenched its teeth. "I am...a friend. Somebody who has the same wishes as you."
"Wait, I don't have any friends. And how can you know if you want the same things I want? You stopped me that one time."
"I've changed. Now, I have the same problems as you."
"No. I only have one problem, a problem that can't be dealt with. I've already tried, many, many times." he said, sighing
"Perhaps you can't deal with them, but I think that I've found a way to get rid of them for good!"
"Why would you help me?" he asked, crossing his arms.
"That is none of your business! Do you want me to help you or not?"
"Yes, of course! But really, how did you get inside here? I've got the best and the most modern security-measures inside this house, nobody should be able to break in here!"
"Let's say that I have my ways of dealing with obstacles." It said, and showed him it's arm. First, it looked normal, but then it began to change. There was a rectangular pattern on the skin that started to glow, and then slowly moved apart, revealing what was underneath. But instead of flesh, there were only wires and metal, not anything you would expect inside a human being.
Zach gasped. "Are you...a robot?" he asked shakily.
"No, not entirely, but almost. I'm a cyborg, a hybrid between human and machine." it said, and let the fake skin hide the metallic parts again. "So, should we get into business now?"
"Yes, of course! What do I have to do?" he asked, eagerly to hear of that 'plan' the cyborg in his room had.
"You'll just have to lure them to me. I will take care of them. But first, I need to somehow get into their ship, without being seen."
He sighed. "I've already tried, more than one time, but its impossible! The defence mechanisms of the Tortuga are too strong."
The cyborg crossed it's arms and looked at him. "As strong as the security in your house?"
Hearing that phrase, he understood. With a big grin, he stretched out his hand, the cyborg took it and with that, their alliance was sealed. It would be the strongest alliance since the second world war, and there was nobody who could destroy it.
"Hey. But since we are partners now, you could perhaps tell me your name, so we don't have to be so formal. Just call me Zach." he suggested, and looked at his new partner.
The cyborg hesitated for a short time, but then, it answered. "My name? I don't have one, well, not anymore. But you can call me Yami."
"That's great, Yami. Let's discuss our strategy, and then we'll attack!" Zach said, and wanted to leave the room.
But Yami hold him back. "No. We'll wait. This operation is dangerous and requires lots and lots of meticulous planning. I will lead it." With these words, it led him outside.
Zach grinned. Together, they would be unstoppable. Even those pesky wild rats couldn't defeat him now. A mathematical and technical genius, together with a master of futuristic technology, the perfect pair.
But what he didn't know, was the danger he just blindly ran into. He sealed an alliance with an extremely dangerous being, and there was no way back. He wasn't able to read the signs: First, robots are more powerful than humans. If the cyborg would change it's mind and attack him, he would never survive. Second, he didn't ask further why the cyborg wanted to get rid of the Kratts.
And last, the name of the cyborg, Yami, was Japanese and had a meaning.
It meant 'Darkness'.
Well, that's the prologue. I've already started to write the next chapter, but school is very complicated so I won't be able to update in short intervals. I'll try to type as often as I can, but I almost have no time with all the work and things I have to catch up.
Anyway, how did you find it? Leave a review and tell me what you thought, and ideas for improvement are always welcome.
