I jumped out of the window and started running, glancing back over my shoulder every now and then. I stealthily picked my path through the woods. It was Autumn; red, gold and amber leaves coated the floor, scattering to create an abstract masterpiece as I ran past. My white boots thundered in the floor. I always win. I always will win. Despite how immature Star says races are, she'll carry on trying (and falling!) to beat me in a race. I skidded to a halt, the bright sunlight bouncing off my emerald green eyes as I laughed. "I win again!" I cried just as Star stopped, panting. "Almost... there.." she said, gasping for breath. "Out again!" thundered a deep gruff voice. We jumped, just to see Star's dad, Merlin (yes, the Merlin!) glaring at us through the trees. "Dad!..." Star squeaked, no longer the critical, confident young witch I had once known. "You know you aren't allowed out here with that - he gestured to me – delinquent!" he shouted at Star. "Dad, she's my best friend!" argued Star, but she knew it was useless. As he dragged a helpless Star away from me she mouthed "S-O-R-R-Y". I turned, angry with life, and transformed back into a cat before running straight home.
Of course, I should tell you about myself. My name is Page Boots, the daughter of Puss in Boots. My mother disappeared long ago, when she revealed to my dad (obviously a cat) that she was a shape-shifter disguised as a cat since she was on the run. He was furious ,of course, and as soon as she had me she disappeared. I have never known her. The reason Merlin dosen't like me is because he thinks I'm a bad influence to Star. I'm always in jail because it's just my nature, daughter of puss in boots and a runaway shape-shifter! Hello!
I stormed inside. "Hola, Page" said my dad as I thundered in and passed this jewel-lined study on the way to my bedroom. "Hola, Papa" I said through gritted teeth. "Eh, Page what is wrong, mi amore?" purred my dad "Was that grumpy old perro-that-calls-himself-a-wizard-Merlin bothering you again?" he asked, studying an emerald. I didn't answer and jogged to my bedroom. "I'll take that as a yes" muttered puss to himself.
