"Shallow Sleep"

by: Ruemaja

This was inspired by a song of the same title which was sung by Hyde of L'arc en Ciel. And I hope it would fit. Please be warned that this is shounen-ai fic. Hirusena. dedicated to those who read my fics. thank you very much.

"Shallow Sleep"

by: Ruemaja

It was nothing at first.

It was perhaps just a flicker of the light. An illusion maybe. His tired mind slowly registered it as such. Because this wouldn't be happening anyway. It may just be a trick of the light from the pale full moon. he wasn't fully awake, nor was he fully asleep. From his half-lidded eyes, he thought he saw the boy walking towards him and finally come to stand before him as he sat against the side of the truck, resting after training for so long.

The boy was exactly as he remembered him, brown hair dancing in the wind, wide blue eyes, studying him from where he stood. Maybe he would snap at the boy. Yet he didn't.

He was too tired perhaps. Maybe all this wasn't happening at all.

You must be really tired, The boy's smile seemed to remark.

The smile didn't leave the boy's lips. He knew it wouldn't, nomatter how tired the boy was, the smile would never leave the boy's lips.

he wouldn't have it any other way.

Can't sleep? The Illusion of the boy seemed to ask with his eyes.

It didn't need to be said outloud.

He only grunted. He was asleep, he thinks. He still did not fully acknowledge the illusion in front of him. But wondered, sleepily, why he was there. He didn't know why he was here, he just was.

...Perhaps.

The illusion tilted his head, sideways just slightly.

You think?

A small frown formed on his face, it was barely shown yet, it was nevertheless, a frown. Not like his usual scowl when he snaps at his otehr teamates. But it was still a frown. Is he prying into my thoughts or am I speaking it outloud. He wondered to himself. Half-asleep and half-awake as he is, everything is hazy.

The boy shrugged as an answer to his question.

Depends. The boy replied. If you want it to. I'm not brave enough to do it when you're really awake but...

He didn't reply this time. His eyes did the talking for him, he supposed. And the illusion of the boy walked, closer to him, unmindful of the cold biting wind in the dessert, nor the snores of thier other companions as they slept in the truck.

This may just all be an illusion.

Hiruma-san... The illusion whispered to him. kneeling down, leaning closer.

Vaguely, he thought he felt warm breath against his face. Which was not suppose to be unless...

"Sena..." he whispered back, softly. From half-lidded eyes, he could see the runningback's cerulean eyes looking straight into his eyes and soul. "Are you...?"

"Hush."

Hiruma Youichi was silenced. all his questions forgotten.

And in that shallow sleep, he saw the boy, Sena Kobayakawa, lean closer. Close enough for him to see the shades of blue in his eyes.

Close enough to reach out and touch.
