My name, is Red. You may have heard my name on the news, coupled with words like, "the best" or "undefeated". I have another word that comes to mind when I think of myself, "lost". Not in the physical sense, in that sense I know exactly where I am, sitting at the summit of MT Silver, in a cave, surrounded by my Pokemon. No, the way I'm lost is internal, stemmed from a feeling of deep regret, and want. Now I know what your thinking, "want"? "Red", you say, "you have it all, your the Pokemon Indigo league champion and have everything you ever wanted". And you would be right, I did have everything I wanted, everything I'd ever worked for. And then, one day, as so often happens, I realized it meant nothing to me, absolutely nothing. And with that realization, I was more confused than ever, how could something I worked this hard for mean nothing?

I was but eleven at the time and such strong emotions confused me, stifled my reasoning, making my fear that much more dangerous. With this fear I took an action i'm not proud of, I ran, ran from everything, the terrifying hoards of fans, the insurmountable, unsatisfying battles, and my own confusion. I only paused in my escape to do three things. First I left notes to Blue, Green, and Professor Oak. for the second I left my completed national pokedex in Lances quarter's with instructions to give it to Oak. Lastly I picked up my seven pokemon, my loyal team, pulled out my aerodactyl and flew away, to the one place i knew no one could ever reach me, Mount silver, a place where I could hide from my troubles, and anything having to do with my confusing achievement. Here i planned to live and train with my loyal pokemon, Poliwrath, Pikachu, Venusaur, Snorlax, Espeon, Gyarados, and Aerodactyl, Pokemon who refused to leave me no matter what happened, they remain forever my faithful friends.

MT. Silver, the last place in the world that was truly wild, every Pokemon in the world had been spotted there at one time. No one lived there, no one could ever even dare to brave the hurricane level winds and blizzards, let alone the Pokemon that had levels higher than any others found in the wild. And yet, there were rumors that the strongest trainer in the world could be found at MT. Silvers peak. That's why I was climbing the mountain, to fight this supposed "best" trainer. His name was Red, the so called "undefeated champion" also known as the "silent champion" apparently he didn't talk much, not that any of that mattered. I Gold Makimarra was confident in my skills as a trainer, skills that would surely beat this coward of a champion.

I had these thoughts as I climbed the last twenty feet to the summit, something I knew only one person had ever done before. I pulled myself up and sat there, panting for a few seconds, taking in my achievement. Then, as I began to survey my surroundings I saw a human figure leaning against the only tree that dared grow on the summit. Its back was to me, so that all I could see was its tattered vest and baseball cap, but I knew who it was, after all he was the only other human to make it up here. "Red" I called, yelling though we were only separated by a few yards, " My name is Gold Makimarra, champion of Johto and Kanto. I challenge you, Red the undefeated champion, as is my right as current champion of the pokemon league."

He stood there in silence for several seconds, then he began to walk away from me, as if i wasn't even there, as if he hadn't even heard me. I drew breath to berate him, to call him a coward. but then I saw him reach for a thin object caught in the tree, taking this in his hand he wrapped it around his waist and turned to face me. The belt (for now I could see that's what it was) cinched around his waist, was tattered, but the pokeballs it held gleamed as if they were regularly polished. Then in one smooth action he pulled a pokeball off of his belt and thrusted it in front himself, pointing it directly at me, silently accepting my challenge.

I wasted no time in mirroring the action, pulling the pokeball housing my Typhlosian off of my belt and throwing it at the ground. Typhlosian was released in a flash of white light, at the same time I saw a corresponding flash come from Reds half of the snowy landscape, revealing a powerful Venusaur. "Excellent" I thought " A grass type, my Typhlosian will have the advantage", I quickly spouted a command to my Typhlosian " Flamethrower Typhlosian, knock this grass type out of the park!" My Typhlosian bared its fangs and released a plume of flame at its opponent, it was a perfect, dead set shot. There was no way it could miss, and then, right as the flames were a mere inch away from the Venusaur, I heard one low short whistle, piercing the sounds of battle. At that sound the Venusaur was gone, moving faster than any eye could ever follow, it suddenly appeared behind my pokemon. And before I could shout a warning to Typhlosian, I heard another two piercing whistles, and suddenly the earth began to shake. "Earthquake" that's what crossed my mind as I stared in utter surprise at my situation "He taught his Venusaur earthquake". I stared on, powerless to help, as my Typhlosian fainted from the super effective move.

The next battles were similarly one sided, my pokemon releasing a super effective attack. Only to hear a whistle, and to have the Venusaur jump out of the way at the last second, dealing a knockout blow as it went. This continued until all but one of my pokemon were knocked out cold, Red seemed unfazed, and even worse, unimpressed by my team. But I knew that his attitude would change once he saw my sixth, most powerful pokemon. I actually started laughing as I imagined Reds utter surprise at the pokemon I was about to release. Then abruptly i ceased my laughter and drew back my arm to throw my pokemon, and with a tinge of humor to my voice I yelled "go Ho-oh". The words had barely left my mouth when Red began to move, he pulled his ever present red and white baseball cap backwards on his head, revealing his eyes for the first time in our battle. And for just a moment I was struck speechless gazing at the most magnificent eyes I had ever seen, they were a dark crimson, the color of blood, and they offset his obsidian black hair perfectly.

And then that moment passed as Red and I dropped back into battle mode. I wasted no time in yelling my command, in hopes of beating that incessant dodge whistle to the punch. "Ho-Oh" I commanded "Sacred fire" and this time, to my elation, there wasn't a piercing whistle, the cursed Venusaur had taken the sacred fire head on. And then I heard it, it wasn't the normal shrieking whistle I had grown used to, instead it was a low and complicated tune, that erupted from Reds lips. I recognised the song, titled "nature's resilience", it was a song about a pokemon and its master braving the fiercest storms together. And as the song played Venusaur began to glitter yellow, using a move it took me a few seconds to remember the name of, synthesis. It was a use of the move I had never seen before, obviously only accomplished by the superior skill of the pokemon and trainer before me. The Venusaur was pulling the heat and light out of sacred fire and turning it into energising nutrients, making my devastating fire attack a battery for their next move, solarbeam. Normally solarbeam needed to be charged up, but my Ho-Oh's sacred fire acted as a sunny day for this amazing creature, and it was able to fire its deadly beam instantly, once again fainting my pokemon in one hit.

I watched as Gold recalled his fainted legendary, and silently smiled to myself. A legendary, in one hit, even for Venusaur that was impressive. My thoughts were still on my victory when Gold spoke " I admit defeat, Red, that battle was truly spectacular. And don't worry, I'm leaving, I won't bother you anymore, and I'll see to it that no one else comes to bother you like I did, but before I go I have some questions to ask, if that's ok with you?" To answer his question I simply nodded, signaling for him to continue. "How did you get so powerful?" Ah, a question I really couldn't answer, so I simply shrugged, which seemed good enough for him. "Next question, which pokemon was your first?" To answer that I simply released poliwrath from his ball, and waited for the next question. "Ok last one, why did you leave, I mean, it's not like anyone beat you, that's the only reason i could see me running, so why did you?" He probably didn't expect me to answer, I mean, how would you answer that with gestures, if he didn't expect it then what happened next surprised him, even if he didn't show it. I answered him "...I...beat...myself…" my speech was never the best, I always talked this slow, but obviously seven years of disuse made it worse, as my voice came out pretty light and gravely. " what do you mean, you beat yourself?" Gold responded, sounding slightly worried "battling..training..it lost its meaning" slowly as I began to speak more the fluidity of my speech began to return " I left because..there was...no reason to stay….battling..being a trainer.. It felt… different...strange...I didn't understand it, then I don't understand it now."

To my surprise Gold's face split into a wide smile, "Red" he said " Old Oak said you might tell me something like that, he told me that you needed to find yourself. He also told me to tell you this, you cant find yourself if you hide from the part of you your looking for." I stared at Gold for a few seconds and then grinned "that..sounds like oak...alright" I told him. At this he nodded and looked at me, looked me right in the eye and said "Oak said to give you these things if I could get you to listen, he also told me to tell you to keep an open mind about them." I nodded and held out my hand for the items, which he placed in my hands before walking away a bit to give me privacy. The first item was deeply familiar to me, it was my national pokedex, which I carefully slipped into my belt. Next was a letter titled simply: from Oak, which I hastily ripped open and unfolded, inside Oak had written:

"Red, If you're reading this, then Gold has convinced you to listen to reason finally. Red, I understand why you ran, every champion goes through it at some point, even me. But it's much harder for you, Red, because you are the greatest champion that has, and ever will live. And that is why your personal crises will be much more trying than any before or after you, I know that's why you had to isolate yourself up there, but now it's time to go and explore the world, to find yourself. After all you can't find yourself while hiding in a cave, you have to do it while discovering and trying new things. If you choose to head this letter, and come down the mountain, then you need just nod to young Gold and he will come tell me, but if you don't listen, I'll come up that mountain and drag you down myself, and I'll bring Blue and Green to help me, too." P.S, it said " If you come down the mountain, it might be a good idea to not where your hat and vest, they are your trademark after all, and do draw unnecessary attention."

I smiled after finishing the letter, it was written in true Professor Oak fashion, jumping straight to the point and filled with wisdom. The next item was a simple, leather bound book, titled simply "champions, elite four, gym leaders, and other strong trainers". The name of the author was, written in simple white thread on the front cover, it read "Oak". I nodded thoughtfully and carefully put the old, worn book in my leather satchel, and turned my eyes to the last two items, one was a bag, containing a bag full of ultra balls, every healing item I would need, and a hand full of escape ropes. The last item was another book, bigger and even more worn than the last, its title was "Legends and Folklore". The back of the book proclaimed this novel to have every known legend found in every region, strangely, I could find no author on the book.

After I took in the items that Gold had given me, I quickly took my signature hat and vest off and stuffed them in my satchel, then I gave one quick nod to Gold, who's eyes lit up at the action and quickly stammered, "S-so, you're coming down?" I smiled and nodded again, and then I turned and began to walk down a path that was directly behind my tree, as i began my descent I heard Gold do the same, as he slid down the mountain on an escape rope. As I walked down my mountain path, I began to think about what Oak had written in his letter, about how I needed to find myself, and how trying new things was apart of that. Well, if trying new things would help, I knew what wouldn't help, chasing dreams.

I've chased and achieved more dreams in my short life than most people have, some of those dreams have been mine, others are ones the original dreamer just couldn't complete. And i have managed to achieve every single one I've ever faced, so, if trying new things is in, if having new dreams is in, then old ones, are most certainly out. And you know what? that's not really hard for me, because I've achieved all of my old dreams. pokemon master? check. complete pokedex? check. catch every species of pokemon in the known world? check. catch all shinies? check. catch all alola forms? Check.

But knowing what not to do wasn't going to help me very much, so that train of thought really did absolutely nothing. But at least it distracted me as I finished my trek down the mountain. I hadn't been down from that mountain in about seven years, so I was happy to see that very little had changed in the town nestled at the bottom of the mountain. Silver town, named for the mountain that stood above it, still looked exactly the same as it did when I first came here, seven years ago. There was one new thing I noticed, however, they had added a clothing store. That, was exactly what I needed, I thought, since my skin tight black shirt, and jeans were completely torn apart from my time on the mountain.

I walked into the store nervously, since fashion wasn't really my thing. Instantly a sales person was standing in front of me, "Can I help you?" he asked. It took me a moment to stammer a surprised reply " Y-yes...I..need some..new clothes.." The man nodded, not even remotely dissuaded by my strange speech patterns. he led me towards a back room where he quickly took some measurements. "ok, I'm gonna need ya to brush your hair out of your eyes so I can find some colors that complement them." That request shocked me a bit, and, not really thinking about it, I brushed my hair back, revealing my eyes, a deep blood red. The man took a moment to be shocked, taking in my obsidian hair and red eyes then he got control of himself and grabbed a leather traveling vest of the rack behind him. As he handed it to me he pursed his lips and grabbed a black bowler hat off of a hat rack and handed to me. I silently questioned his choice with my eyes. "Its to hide your eyes, so no one recognizes you by them." Aha, so he had recognized me, in response to this revelation I gave him another questioning look, the man looked at me and smiled "don't worry kid, I won't be telling a soul, it's an honor enough just to be able to outfit you in the proper attire." I thanked the tailor with a nod and payed him for the hat, burgundy turtleneck, jeans, and vest he had supplied me with, I added a tip as thanks for his silence.

after visiting the tailor I made my way out of Silver town, planning to travel to the goldenrod airport, since my Aerodactyl was no great shakes at intercontinental flight. from there I would get a plane to Unova, a place I had visited for only two weeks, just enough time to catch one of every pokemon there. I was halfway to goldenrod city when I passed by a small town called slowpokes well, it was about one in the morning, since I preferred to travel after dark. I was just walking by, almost out of site of the town, when I heard voices, instantly I stopped and listened, my hand dropping to Pikachu's pokeball instinctively. This is what i heard, " you stay away from those slowpoke you hooligans! you leave those poor pokemons tales alone!" that voice sounded elderly but strong, and full of authority, "or what old man, you'll scold us to death, your way past your prime you old coot." this voice sounded spiteful and venomous, lastly a whining, annoyed voice could be heard, "lets just wing'em Robert he's getting annoying." And with that I heard "go Golem" "get that old coot Onix"

without thinking, letting my instincts and muscle memory take hold, I flipped out from behind the tree, stepping in front of the elderly man. quickly I pulled pikachu's pokeball of my belt, throwing it on the ground. "didn't your parents teach you to respect your elders, boys?" I surprised myself with the fluid, ungarbled speech that came to me as I entered battle. then before they could register what had happened, I began to whistle, three sharp blasts came from my mouth, and suddenly Pikachu was gone moving directly at the Golem, slamming into it with a quick attack, a quick attack used at only one percent power i should add. still it did its job, pissing off the Golem. immediately it charged Pikachu, its trainer yelling "tackle, Golem, break that yellow rat."

instantly Pikachu jumped away letting the Golem slam into a tree. i quickly whistled another four notes, which pikachu responded to by using torment, raising my opponents attack power while giving it confusion. Maybe the confusion rubbed off on the trainer because he made the biggest mistake i've ever seen in battle, he commanded his pokemon "charge down that pikachu and use self destruct!" I knew what he was trying to do, golem had sturdy as an ability, stopping it from fainting from moves like self destruct, but it wasn't going to work. As the golem charged my pokemon pikachu stood stock still, until my whistle, telling it to move came, at the last possible picosecond. pikachu used agility and dodged out of the way, causing the golem to charge head first into its partner, onix. onix had been about to body slam pikachu, what happened however, was a bit different, for as golem reached pikachu it used self destruct, at the same time as onix slammed into it, fainting both pokemon in one, decisive blow.

Quickly I released a low whistle, in the key of G, commanding pikachu to use flash. the clearing lit up, brightening the area as if in day light for a good two minutes. two minutes was more than I needed, I pulled out my pokedex and used its cameras to take a picture of the two stupidly uniformed idiots in front of me, then one pulled a dark orb from its bag smashing it on the ground, releasing mass amounts of smoke. smoke bomb, I thought, as I coughed through the thick smog, it cleared after a few seconds and i turned to the old man i had come to the aid of. he was no worse for ware and seemed in good health despite the smoke he had inhaled, and he was laughing at the victory i had pulled off. as i looked at him i tipped the rim of my bowler up so he could see my eyebrow, raised in a question, "well lad, you did a good job with those hooligans, i bet you're wondering who they were, and what they were doing here. heck, you probably want to know who i am and what i'm doing here." I nodded and he continued "tell you what lad, it's late, why don't you come to my house for the night and i'll explain things in the morning?" i nodded in acceptance, finally realizing how tired I was. I followed the old man aways until we made it to his house, a place with a large veranda out front and one out back as well. I went into his guest room and conked out on the mat layed there.

I awoke surrounded by my pokemon, they having let themselves out during the night, i smiled warmly at them and greeted and hugged each in turn, before returning all but pikachu and espeon to their balls. pikachu hopping on my shoulder and espeon running between my legs as i walked. i carefully opened the door that led to the main part of the house, wincing at the creaking sound the door made. "ah, your up" a voice said, coming down the hallway behind me. i whirled around to get a look at the speaker, and saw the same old man i had helped the night before. he led me into the kitchen where he served tea and some toast. while we sipped our tea the man spoke " i 'spose introductions are long overdue, the names Kurt, lad, Kurt the pokeball smith. now i know you got a lot of question, i can also tell that you don't like talkin'. so i'm gonna answer the questions you would be asking." he looked at me asking if i was ok with this, i just nodded, letting him talk for both of us "as for the people you helped me with last night, they were trying to cut the tails off of them slowpoke down by the well, I heard the ruckus they made and went to stop them, but i'm not as young as i used to be and im grateful for your help, lad. they also mentioned who they worked for, said it was some company called lightning semantics, or something like that, thought you might want to know."

I nodded my thanks to Kurt, for both the info and the breakfast, and began to stand, I was only a foot from the door when Kurt spoke again, "Lad, I don't need to know who you are, but I have to ask, the reason you seem shifty and distant, the reason you don't talk much, is it because of something your runnin from, or somethin' you're tryin to find?" I paused and turned to the old man, who was still sitting at the table, "i'm... trying...to find...something" i said, slowly and deliberately. "what is it" And I paused, not comfortable with this much speech. "me" I said. at that Kurt threw back his head and laughed, long and hard. when he finally stopped he looked at me, smiled and said "boy, if you're looking for yourself there's no better place to look than right here. because what I do, it helped me when I was in a similar predicament." he paused and looked at me his eyes simply saying, I've been there "you see that's why I asked you to come with me last night, I saw a need in your eyes I've only seen once before, back when I looked in the mirror twenty five years ago. I know what you going through, lad, and I promise, if you listen to me, let me teach you my craft, I can help you on your quest to find yourself. you probably won't finish that quest here, but this will be a great place, to start it. after that we just stared at each other for a good ten minutes, and finally, I found my answer "yes...i'll do it" And that started one of the best times of my life, rivaled only by my time as a trainer before I beat the league.

six months passed, and in that time I learned almost everything Kurt could teach me, I learned to build the net, dive, heavy, friend, and quick ball. I learned to forge tools too, hoes, knives, axes, shovels, anything that could be made in fire or on an anvil I learned how to craft. he also taught me to fight, using his strength I gained from my work I became one of the best boxers he had ever seen. But that's not all i did, after the first month Kurt began to train pokemon with me. it started with him telling me to take out my pokemon, then he brought out his, and we battled, and battled. Kurts was the first person I had ever met that could drive me to battle as hard as I could, and even at my highest level of trying, it wasn't an easy victory. but, I did do it, i won, but after my win Kurt pulled out a notebook filled with every error I had made, telling me to work on them. and work on them I did. every evening we trained, eventually Kurt wouldn't let me battle him with my normal team, and when I asked him why, he told me that I couldn't always rely on having better pokemon, one day I might have worse ones, and I would need strategy to win then. so instead of my pokemon he made me fight with pokemon I caught in the morning before my pokeball crafting sessions. Eventually though, Kurt couldn't beat me even when I was using a team i had caught an hour before.

it was after I had mastered all of these new challenges, pokemon battles with random pokemon, pokeball crafting, smithing, and boxing, did he declare me done with my apprenticeship. he then told me something important "lad, I have a friend in Hoen he's a glass blower, anyways he sent me a letter a month ago telling me that some group called lighting semantics were causing issues in his region, he asked for my help. But I'm not as fast or as good as I used to be, and I was wondering if" I didn't let him get any farther, hugged him and said "of course...I'll help him...I finished my training anyways...I'll continue my search in the Hoen region...its actually good..I was planning on dealing with those lightning...people... when I got done..here." Kurts smiled and shook his head saying "Lad, I haven't taught you everything, and I won't, not until you find yourself, but when you do, come back here, tell me your name, and I'll show you how to turn this," he said this while handing me a purple apricorn. "into a pokeball, the last pokeball I'll ever need to show you how to make." and I took the apricorn he offered and put it in my bag, nodded once, hugged him one last time, and gathered my things. then i walked through the door, but unlike when I left my own home I looked back and waved. Letting him know I would return.

Hoen wasn't nearly as far as Unova was, so I decided to fly there on Aerodactyl. It was still a long journey though, and I had about two days worth of time to kill, so I finally opened the books Oak had given me, inside the first one titled "champions, elite four, gym leaders, and other strong trainers". I think Oak left that one as a joke, since half the book was about me. The rest mentioned Green and Blue, and a bunch of new pokedex holders that sprung up while i was gone, it also mentioned a bunch of previous champions and elite four, as well as the current ones. I noticed a small section at the back of the book, devoted to "world champions" Apparently, there was a new form of championship where champions, gym leaders, elite four, and strong trainers holding eight badges, from all over the world could compete. The winner was called the "grand champion of all the regions", and every year a contest was held to find the next champion. According to oaks book, there had been only two world championships thus far, and so only two "world champions" existed, both were listed in the book. The first was former, reformed rocket boss Giovanni, who had been making the world a much better place after getting out of prison. The next year Giovanni only made it to the semifinals in the tournament, being beaten by my old friend Green. Green lost in the end to my other friend and rival, Blue, making him the champion of last year's competition.

I smiled at that thought, Blue, as world champion, good thing he wasn't a narcissist any more, or he would be unbearable right now. Since I'd finished the first book rather quickly (I'd skipped the parts about me), I picked up the next book, titled "legends and folklore". I opened the book, wondering why Prof. Oak had sent it to me. As soon as I parted the pages, two letters fell out, one green, one blue. I saw that the blue one said "read me last" written on it, so I unfolded the letters and began to read.

"Dear Red," it started "This is Green, if you're reading this it means you FINALLY came to your senses and our out in the world again. I bet you read the other book first right? If you did then you know I was almost champion of the world, but Blue beat me. He's gotten better, but I bet he's still no match for you. I miss you, you old dunderhead, and I have a challenge for you, IF your man enough. I want you to prove you're still the best, beat every gym you come across, and meet me and Blue at the world league this year. Do it, please, prove to everyone that Red is back, and he isn't scared. The world needs to see it, and i need to see it to, so does every new pokedex holder around. They need to see what being a dex'r really means.

Always yours, XOXO, Green"

I laughed to myself, that was definitely Green, flirty, sisterly, commanding, and right, all at once. "Challenge… accepted… Green" I whispered.

Next i opened Blues letter, taking in his horribly messing handwriting, rivaled only by my own. "Red" it opened "by the time you read this you'll probably be halfway to another region by now, and if you accepted Greens request then you'll probably be headed away from kanto and johto, since you already have badges from every gym there. I wish you luck, Red, though you really won't need it. After you left we were heartbroken, especially green, but I was hurt as well. You were the one person who helped me stop being a self loving dirt-bag, you were also my best friend. But I'm not angry Red, I know why you left. You always hated the paparazzi and media, and I know that played a part in your running even if you don't. I also know about you needing to find yourself, I had to do that myself a few years after you left. And you know what helped me? Having something bigger to have to solve, to chase after, and since I had taken up archeology recently, I decided to find a mystery, just for you. I spent months searching for it, I finally found it in the johto ruins. It's a book written about every legend and myth that exists in our world, but it centers around one specifically, the songs of element's. I know these songs and the story behind them have always fascinated you, you even used the whistled versions as commands for your pokemon's special moves. I also know that you think the story the songs tell actually happened, and that they hide a greater secret. This book I have given supports your theory and adds some helpful thoughts that could help you figure out the truth behind these songs.

Good luck out there, your friend and rival, Blue Oak"

I paused for a moment, a little dazed by what I'd read. Blue had found it, Blue had found proof that my pet theory was true! I quickly opened the book and began to flip through to find the page that had the songs of elements legend, didn't need to search far, it was on the first page. I smiled with excitement as I began to read.

" the songs of elements are some of the most amazing myths that exists in our world, every nation has sung the songs of elements in their culture, some hundreds of years before meeting the other cultures who did so. The songs titles alone are intriguing and thought raising, each one named after an element or pokemon type, and a strength. The songs are meant to be sung in order, the order is this: "Nature's resilience" "Inferno's strength" "Aqua's speed".

"Each song also tells a story, a story that tells of a pokemon (of grass, fire, and water, respectively) and its trainer overcoming an obstacle of of great danger, consisting of a super effective type match. In "nature's resilience" the pokemon and it's trainer are looking for something the trainer says, "is too important to give up, after everything we've been through" it is because of this that they brave a fire tornado, almost dying. However. the pokemon uses a move, we know not which one, and dissipates the tornado. In each song the pokemon and trainer do the same thing, except with different type match ups and (I assume) different trainers each time. Now we must ask ourselves, dear reader, what was so important that the pokemon and trainer were willing to almost die every time to rescue "something" from a shrine. Quite honestly, I do not know, but I have a theory that could be bring researchers one step closer, there is one last song.

"I have found evidence of this in sinnoh ruins, the ruin's state that "if the songs of nature, inferno, aqua, and surge are followed, the path to your goal will be made clear to you " Two things catch my eye hear, one, there is another song, a song of "surge". That could only mean electricity, which means this song, this missing song is probably a song about an electric type and its master, fighting a ground based obstacle, to find this item that everyone wanted. My other question is this, what is this goal? It sounds less like an item and more like a place, but that would go against the songs itself, I only hope that when I find the next hymn things will be made clear."

As I finished the section I set the book back in my bag and began squealing with delight, "I…was...right Aero... I was right" I said as I hugged the neck of my aerodactyl, I paused and opened the book again, this time finding a map. The map was a map of our whole world, with possible sights of the fourth song. My eye's picked out a location marked on the map, clearly identifying a place in Hoenn. I decided to check it out once i got there, getting both a favour and a personal quest out of the way.

A few hours later aerodactyl was landing by what my map said was the glass blowers hut. I hopped of Aero and put him in his pokeball, before releasing pikachu onto my shoulder and knocking on the door. Immediately the door swung open and i was greeted by a man wielding a double barrel shotgun yelling " alright you lightin'n punks, try stoppin' this!" Luckily the old man took a look before he slammed the trigger and was able to redirect his shotgun blast into a nearby tree. After that terrifying first meeting, and tons of apologies, he finally introduced himself " the names Tim, glass blowing Tim they call me, 'cause i'm the glass blower see, I bet your that young fellow Kurt sent" Tim then explained about the issues he had seen with lightning semantics goons, "they've been runnin around causing all sorts of problems, stealin 'mon and beatin' people with those big 'lectrified nightsticks they got. I managed to get the stolen pokemon back, but I sprained me back pretty bad and i haven't been up to fighten those no good punks since. That's why I called Kurt, it's why you're here, cause they may have left town, but i heard news that they've been pullin' the same stuff all over, even in other regions! So, kid I need you to clean up this region, seeing as i'm not up to it, you think you can handle yourself with these guys, kid?" Without a word I dropped all my pokeballs on the ground, letting the man see their obviously high level, as he gasped I answered him "yeah...I...can...handle myself just...fine."

After getting some more information on the whereabouts of the lightning semantics goons from old Tim, i set off for where there was the most criminal activity related to semantics, islands just off the coast of newbark town. When i arrived at newbark town i took a stop to eat at a poke cafe, as i walked in pikachu leapt off my shoulder and onto the table, while i set down my satchel that Vee was riding in. since it was a pokemon cafe it had enough room for all of my pokemon, even snor, who normally took up five booths. As we dug in i noticed two people watching me from across the room, i quickly whispered to my pokemon to finish fast, since I was worried about being recognised. And we quickly left the restaurant, but i had a pretty good feeling i was being followed. So as i walked under a tree, i jumped into its branches and pulled out snor's pokeball. And as my followers walked under the tree, wondering where i'd gone, i opened the pokeball releasing a three thousand pound snorlax directly in front of them.

Immediately i heard the fear filled cries of the two that had been following me, "gaaah, Sapphire what happened" and another voice female, whereas the first was male "he's in the tree's Ruby, i got him" And with that the girl known as Sapphire threw down a pokeball, releasing a Blaziken "go, blaziken" she cried, "Flamethrower on snorlax" Instantly i whistled a low A minor, a signal for light screen, which caused the flamethrower to due no damage. Next, i released a short sharp F minor note, telling Snor to hold light screen, then i whistled the tune of the song "macho man". letting snor know i wanted him to use bodyslam with light screen in effect, and when he complied it doubled the damage on my opponents blaziken, knocking it out in a beautiful one hit K.O.

"why...are you...following me" i called down to my pursuers, as leapt off my branch and recalled snor in one smooth motion. it was the one named Ruby who answered, since his friend was to busy fuming, "we were told by Sapphire's dad, professor elm to talk to someone dressed just like you, he didn't mention that you were the undefeated champion, though" That made me pause, having to think through several revelations at once, first and foremost was that he knew who i was. so i answered him "how...did..you know it...was...me?" i asked. "your eyes, no one else i have ever seen or heard of has your eyes, except you, of course" I nodded at that and asked the second question i had, "so... if her name is...Sapphire...and her dad is elm...then...she is the hoenn...champion? Sapphire...Elm." to this Rubies answer was a nod "then...that...makes you...her...boyfriend...Ruby...the pokemon...coordinator." Once again i received a nod and a smile "that's right" this time the answer came from Sapphire, who seemed over her earlier frustration.

"So...why...did professor elm...send you...to find...me?" i asked "dad got a call from old Tim the glass blower, he told my dad to find you and tell you that the people your looking for set up a base on mirage island. He also said to be careful, since you can only get there using defog and teleport simultaneously, and that might set off alarms they have set up." I nodded my thanks for the info and assured them i would be fine, before i set off for the mirage island.

I departed from a shallow depression in a cliff, jumping down while releasing Gyara into the water, allowing for a smooth transition from land to water. I smiled as we took off from the cliff, letting Pika sit on Gyara's head while Vee nestled in beside me, purring all the while. I would need these three when we got to the base of lightning semantics, and i was giving the three i would need a break in the sun before we entered. As we got to mirage island coordinates i quickly gave a series of whistles, telling Gyara to use defog, Vee to use teleport, and Pika to use static to scramble there sensors. Immediately we arrived inside a hallway covered in what looked to be gold and copper, and i quickly returned my pokemon, since stealth was of the essence. And then i heard a soft, feminine voice in my head "Red, is that you." I stumbled backwards slightly, since i hadn't heard a voice in my head since i released… Then i felt a stab in my back as an electrified nightstick pumped a hundred volts into me.
