AN:

MAJOR SPOILER FOR KINGDOM HEARTS II "WORLD THAT NEVER WAS"

This story is a slight modification of the scene where Sora reunites with Riku. I think that this was one of the most touching scenes. Almost cried when I watched it.

'Sora!'

'Kairi!'

She hugs me. It was a little awkward at first, but I hugged her back. Kairi's alright now, she's safe. But I can't celebrate. Not yet. Of course I'm glad that Kairi's safe, but there's still another person to be found. Someone I've been longing to see.

Out of the corner of my eye, I saw Ansem turn to leave.

'Wait.'

Ansem, I mean Xehanort's heartless, stopped, but didn't turn around.

'I never thought I'd see you again.' The figure remained still.

'Thinking about what you've done still makes me really mad. But you saved Kairi. I've got to be grateful for that.'

Of course, thinking about what he's done to Riku still makes me mad. Thinking about how much Riku has had to suffer because of him still makes me mad. But he saved Kairi. He's changed. I've got to forgive him, right?

'Thank you.'

Xehanort's heartless stayed still, as if waiting to see if I had anything else to say. After a few seconds, he headed towards darkness.

'Riku! Don't go!'

The name cut through my heart like a knife. I stood still until my brain registered what was happening.

'Kairi, what did you just say?'

She turned around and looked at me.

'Riku.'

I blinked and stared at Xehanort's heartless.

'I'm nothing! Just someone from the dark!'

That tone… Could it be? But… Why?

'Sora, come, talk to him!'

Xehanort's heartless turned away from me, but didn't move. It seemed he gave up running away.

'Here, you'll see. Close your eyes.'

She put my hand on top of Xehanort's heartless's, and I did what she told me.

I felt familiar fingers curled around my hand, a familiar soft gaze from someone important. Then, I saw him. Riku. His aquamarine eyes gazing back at me, his silver hair flowing over his shoulders.

My eyes snapped open. In Riku's place was Xehanort's heartless. But I know inside him is Riku's heart.

'Riku…'

I knees felt weak, and tears filled up in my eyes, threatening to fall. Still clinging on to his hand, afraid to let go, I fell to my knees.

'Riku… you're here… I looked for you'

'Sora…'

Maybe it was because our hearts are now connected, the voice that spoke was not Xehanort's heartless's. It was his. It was Riku's.

'I looked everywhere for you!' I allowed the tears to flow down my cheeks.

'Don't cry Sora, you're stronger than that.'

I shook my head 'I wanted to see you for so long.'

'I didn't want to see you.'

I looked up at him. He was smiling softly, but I can tell from his eyes that he was in pain. I stood up and grabbed his shoulders.

'Why didn't you tell me about this?'

He looked away. I frowned. Screw what everyone else thinks. I threw my arms around him and pulled him into a tight embrace, burying my nose into his chest and breathed in Riku's scent. He still smells the same: the scent of the ocean.

Riku hesitated at first, but he returned my hug just as tightly.

'I didn't want you to find me… Not like this…'

I pulled away a little.

'That's ridiculous! No matter what, you're still, and always will be, Riku!'

I buried my face into his chest again and whispered:

'And I still love you…'

Played through that part and I couldn't help but squeal in delight and almost cried. Watched it over and over…
