Not What He Expected

Spencer Reid had been waiting at home in his boyfriend's silk bed sheets, chocolate laid across the pillows. A bottle of wine was placed in a classy bucket-styled cooler laid in front of the fireplace in his boyfriend's living room. He had prepared two steaks with matching potatoes and a slice of French silk pie for desert….

And that was over four hour ago.

Aaron was supposed to be home hours ago, but he found that he was still waiting for his lover to come home. He was beginning to feel discouraged. Spencer wasn't the spontaneous type, but he finally got up the courage to do something nice, but he was really starting to regret it.

After another two hours of waiting on Aaron's bed, he had finally had enough. Spencer sighed as he put his robe on and dimmed the dripping candles. He threw away all the chocolate and remade the bed to its normal state of being. He dragged himself into the living room and unlit the fireplace. He reached out for the wine and placed it in the back of their-Aaron's fridge. Spencer picked up the tray with the plates he had made for dinner and threw it away as well. He sighed as he stared at the wasted meal; it tasted so good, but he had only allowed himself a taster of each item. Now, his appetite was completely gone. With one final look at the meal, he closed the garbage lid and plopped down on the couch. He turned on the TV and started watching meaningless soap operas.

2 Hours Later: 10pm

Spencer had thrown the remote across the room after turning the TV off, tears running down his face and his body curled up into an impossibly small ball? Where was Aaron? He said he'd be home early! Was he seeing someone else? Did something happen to him? He was crying so hard that he hadn't even notice the door open until he saw a blackened figure passing him by.

"Aaron?" he asked, sitting up on the couch. "Where were you?"

"Work." he mumbled before slamming the bedroom door shut. He knew that Aaron wasn't at work; he had gotten off work early, and he had told him himself that he wasn't going back until the next day. Aaron had lied to him. With one last sniffle, Spencer managed to get off the couch and walk into the bedroom, where Aaron laid on the bed staring at the ceiling. He ruffled through some drawers, collecting all of his belongings. Aaron didn't say a word; he just watched as he boyfriend took his stuff and throw them into a bag.

"I'm not coming back." Reid muttered as he started toward the door.

"Good."

Spencer wasn't even shocked. It was no wonder his lover had been 'late' coming home.

So Spencer slammed the door shut behind him and drove himself to Morgan's house. He didn't know what he was expecting to happen, but he knew that whatever did happen had to be better than staying the night at Aaron's place. As he drove to the other agent's house, he let tears start spilling again.

'Why don't you love me, Aaron?'
