A/N: Originally a long one-shot that I had an idea for. But it was beginning to become way to long before I even got to the fourth part. So I decided to make it like a 10 chapter story. Not long and I have the majority of it already written, just waiting for some editing and feedback from you guys. Do you think I should continue?
Kurt knew it was going to be a bad day when he woke up to the shirt he was planning on wearing that day being ruined by his cat. He cursed at himself because he knew he should have kept it somewhere safer, now his whole day was doomed. Rushing to find the perfect shirt to go with his pants his boss passed out for all the men to wear was a challenge. But it was a challenge that just had to be met.
Going on location for the better part of the day was quite relaxing compared to his work office in the middle of Manhattan. Here, Kurt just wanted to day to end. He loved what he did but just his boss was so overwhelming at times.
Hearing the shuffling of feet coming around him as Kurt checked his phone for messages during some down time, he was confused to where everyone had went. Walking around, it clicked when he remembered that there was a meeting today at three. Shoving his phone into his pocket Kurt ran into the room, slowly opening the door almost shoving people out of his way slowly in doing so.
"I'm happy to see all you all made it to the meeting this afternoon." Kurt could hear his boss talk as he stood in the back of the meeting room finding a little spot to hide, hopeing not to go noticed. "Let's all be on time next meeting though."
Nope, didn't go unnoticed.
Squeezing his way through to the end of the large group of people, he leaned against the wall so he could hear better. He was caught, no use of hiding anymore.
"As I was saying, next week as most of you should know is our annual holiday party. This years location is one for the record books! I'm really proud to be apart of such a fantastic team and to show my support for each and everyone of you this is my gift to you. I am expecting family, friends, lovers, partners, whom ever you please to bring to be there." He looked at Kurt. "I want someone there for you, this is your time to shine and show of what an amazing company you work for."
Oh god.
Kurt pretended to fix his tie around his neck as his boss Eric continued to go on and on about the party.
"It's a black and white affair..." Looking at his assistant who gave him the thumbs up. "All right, I will see all of you and your beauty next week. I will be away on a business trip starting tomorrow up until that night. Stay busy, I want most of the projects to be done by the party no excuses. You're free to go." Workers scattered out of the room, some going to lunch others going back to work. Kurt followed the sea of people out until he caught eyes with Eric who stopped him. Kurt's palms suddenly sweaty as he tried to smile only to come out nervous like. "So Kurt, will you be bringing anyone special to the event next week?"
"Oh you know..." Kurt waved off the comment laughing in hopes that Eric would join in, but he didn't leaving Kurt more anxious. Fixing his tie again, Kurt stood up straight, nodding "Of course I am."
"I didn't think you were seeing anyone." Eric's eyebrows raised suddenly more interested then before.
"Yeah... it's been a while now, it's becoming serious so I'm telling more people." Kurt smiled, he could feel the sweat coming out from under the hat on his head. "I was planning on asking him tonight when we go out, I'm sure he'll be ecstatic to know about the party."
"Fantastic, family and lovers are very important to have in your life. I'm so happy to hear that you have both." Eric smiled "I'll see you and your lover soon!"
"Most definitely sir" Kurt waved good bye as Eric walked out of the office greeting another employee. Wiping his hands on his jeans, Kurt felt like he could collapse right on the floor but not before mumbling.
"Shit"
Packing up for the rest of the day Kurt was in a tough situation now he could either go with the absolute best choice or risk it with another.
Nope, he was going to go with the safe route. He crossed his fingers that it would work.
MM...MM...MM
After hearing the buzzer go off Finn paused the TV, going over to the intercom thinking it was the pizza he had ordered.
"Who is it?" Finn waited for the response digging for his wallet
"It's Kurt let me in." Buzzing him in Finn unlocked his front door and went over to the chair to grab the remote just as his step brother came through the door.
"Hey dude, I didn't know you were coming. I only bought a large pizza, I would have gotten another one for you."
"As much as a greasy pizza sounds delicious right now, I'm not hungry." Kurt took off his scarf trying to find a distraction for what was going through his head all at the same time.
"Are you okay?" Finn asked stepping forward noticing that look Kurt gets on his face when he's all stressed about stuff. "You've got like the worried look on your face and you look like your about to like crap your pants..."
"Will you be my boyfriend Finn?"
Dropping the remote to the floor, Finn stopped just stared at Kurt with everything coming to a pause. Trying to catch his breath Finn used one of his chairs to hold himself up as he held onto his barely beating heart.
"Actually, let me rephrase that." Kurt bit his lip, chuckling nervously as he helped Finn to a chair before going into cardiac arrest. "I need you to be my pretend boyfriend."
"Not helping." Finn winced out taking deep breaths.
"Stop being so dramatic Finn." Kurt rolled his eyes sitting on the couch looking at his step brother.
"Oh sorry I'm acting like this." Finn glared at him "It's not everyday I get asked out by a dude let alone my brother!"
"You're so annoying, just shut up so I can explain." He yelled throwing a pillow at his head "What I meant was is that I need you to pretend that you are my boyfriend."
"Why in the hell would I want to do that?"
"Because my boss is super family oriented meaning my job is on the line. He was staring at me pressuring me to bring someone to the holiday party so when he practically cornered me I told him I was.
"So you lied to him?"
"I told him I have been dating someone for a year."
"Kurt!" Finn groaned standing up, he was not liking where this was going. "You didn't!"
"I had to, this is my dream job Finn, plus I can't afford to lose it."
"So you lie about having a boyfriend?" Running a hand through his hair, a nervous habit of his, Finn grabs a beer from the fridge opening it. "This is bad and that's coming from me!"
"I know." Kurt cried out sitting on the bar stool, his head dropping on the hard counter. "I am such a horrible person."
"Isn't there someone else you could go to, what about that Blaine guy you've been seeing?"
"I've been on one date Finn!" Holding up a finger "If I ask him to do something like this he'll think of me as a liar and a freak then I'll have to kiss any chances I have with him goodbye."
"Come on, think" Finn begged him to fin another alternative
"I'll pay you. I'll clean your apartment, do your laundry, get you tickets to anything, you name it and I'll figure something out. I'm begging you Finn, you are the only one I can go to for this. I have no one else out of work and if I go to them then word will get around." Getting to his knees he stood in front of Finn with no pride. "My designer jeans and I are begging for you to say yes, please."
Standing there he looked down at his step brother literally on the floor on his knees pleading. The desperate look on his face was enough to make him want to say 'yes' to this whole thing, but then he thinks it over. Kurt slumped down on the soles of his feet almost in defeat. That left Finn groaning because how could he let his brother suffer like that?
"I want Canucks verses Rangers tickets in my hand that night. I want to be able to smell the sweat off their jerseys, that's how close I want those seats to be."
Snapping his head up Kurt jumped up, bouncing on the tip of his toes.
"You'll do it?"
"You get me those tickets and I'll do it." Finn grumbled, he was sucker for letting people down.
"THANK YOU!" Kurt yelled almost going to hug Finn until he put his hand up to stop him. "Thank you so much Finn I promise I will have those tickets in hand on next Saturday. I'll be over later this week to go over outfits for that night."
"Awesome" Finn popped another beer top open chugging just about the whole thing down in one throw back. "Can't wait."
Reviews would be lovely, I'd like to hear what you all think!
