Sora sees Riku and remembers.
He remembers when they were little and they played with blocks, creating whole new worlds out of the square pieces of wood.
And he remembers, before Kairi, when Riku's hair had been the length Kairi's was now, and they'd played in the sand and learned how to swim.
And then Kairi came, but then they got even closer and they'd race with Kairi there to judge and fight and their clothes were simpler, Sora didn't have that crown necklace and Riku didn't wear gloves.
Then there was the time when they'd built that raft, yet somehow they were still half-joking about it, and Riku's hair had been a little shiner and Sora's hair was a little spikier and Kairi's hair was still the same.
But now he's trying to push a door closed and Riku's on the other side and even more recently he'd been facing off against Riku and they were trying to kill each other before Riku had run off.
Sora sees Riku and notices that his hair's a little longer, his bangs are a little limper and there are small lines around his eyes and he wonders, even while Riku's talking to him, just where they went wrong.
DX A quicky thing I wrote up yesterday while reading the KH manga. I don't know what I was saying for most of it. xD There might be mistakes--I beta-read my own work and as a result might overlook stuff. Sorry. XO
