I don't own Twilight.
She was so much brighter than the lights, or at least, that's what Jasper thought as he watched his girlfriend stretch her fingers toward the heavens and twirl in the celestial dance with the snow, basking in the Christmas lights. The snowflakes were stark white against her black hair, and the cold night air made her cheeks rosy with its chill. She licked her lips as they dried- chapped from the weather- and caught the flakes on her pink tongue.
Jasper thought, in those few moments, that no one could ever be as lovely as Alice.
She was so filled with spirit and a childlike playfulness, that simply being in her presence was a thrill, or as the season would say, a joy. Her skinny body became sensuous when she danced, her slight height not seeming to matter as she took center stage, like she did every time.
He meant to tell her that he loved her in those moments when she was smiling and shivering in the Christmas lights that he'd put up on their house, for no other reason than to see her face light up and that smile to stretch her face. There was no better present that she could give him that could compare to that smile, other than herself and her endless kisses. He meant to tell her, but watching her twist in moonlight and snow and white light took his words away, and he could do nothing but watch her, entranced by his ethereal Alice.
All too soon the dancing and the giggles stopped, and she turned to him, eyes still bright with her excitement and her hair still dusted with snow, like pixy dust.
"Jasper?" She asked, all merry bells and sweet carols.
His words were back and they rushed out of his mouth before he could think about wanting to stop them.
"Marry me, Alice. Please."
Her eyes were wide as saucers, the most brilliant blue reflecting every single light, and for the first time Jasper saw Alice surprised. She blinked away the unfamiliar expression and smiled. Jasper's whole world was trapped in that smile.
"Yes. Always yes, silly Jasper."
"I was going to wait till Christmas morning," He smiled at her, grasping her cold little hands in his own, "I bought you a ring and everything."
"But, Jasper, it is Christmas morning." She said, pulling his pocket watch from his pocket and lifting the face of it into the light.
As usual, Alice was right.
"Well then Alice, do you want to see that ring?" He grinned, leaning down to kiss her.
Alice giggled, "I already have."
"You little sneak. I can't keep anything secret from you, can I?"
"Not if you hide those secrets in your sock drawer. It's not very original, Jazz."
"Well, I -"
"Jasper?"
"Yeah, Alice?"
"Shut up and kiss me already."
He smiled then, and did. Because how on Earth could anyone deny a girl who shined brighter than Christmas lights on Christmas morning?
