Sam hates thunder. The rain is okay. The clouds are gloomy but they just kind of float overhead and they're not so bad either. It's the thunder that sucks. The giant booming crack that fills up everything, including Sam's head is what really sucks. It makes things rumble and shake and sets his teeth on edge.
A giant banging boom sounds overhead, outside and Sam flinches and remains firm in his belief. In the other bed Dean ignores him and his beliefs, eyes glued to the little motel tv and continues cleaning his guns and knives, polishing, running fingers over grooves and smooth edges.
Sam glowers and proceeds to wriggle his feet further into the warmth of his sheets. His feet always get cold during storms. He hates thunder.
Sam considers reading, he really does. He considers a lot of things but everything he considers he knows he will get tired of and the thunder will boom in the background breaking any sort of concentration. Really, it isn't worth the effort, this considering things.
Finally he just presses his body into the mattress and pulls the sheets up to his chin. He isn't tired but nothing else seems to appeal to him. He regrets drinking coffee that morning because if he hadn't then he would probably still be asleep now and the thunder could kiss his ass for all the concentration it wouldn't be ruining.
He stares at Dean. Dean ignores him in favor of his weapons.
Sam continues to stare at Dean.
Dean glances at him, but otherwise ignores him.
"Dean." Sam says.
"What?" Dean says. He sounds mildly annoyed, but otherwise disinterested.
"I'm bored."
"...So?"
Sam heaves a sigh. "Nothing," Sam says, digs his fingers into the underside of his pillow, steeling himself. "Wanna talk?" he asks.
"No." is Dean's short and disinterested reply. Sam groans and Dean grins.
Thunder booms outside and Sam tries not to flinch.
