"Daddy's hoooome!"
Riley's sing-song tone of voice was met with a soft laugh from her husband. The orange gum ball machine squatted down beside her, a familiar artefact of his youth in his arms.
"Hey, is that-" Riley started. Dave nodded.
"Yep!". The angel held up the toy in full view. The stuffed animal in his hands appeared to be a mix between a cat and a bear. It was a dark shade of purple-much more so than the color is fair wife sported-and its eyes we're two orange buttons. The item had been worn down from so many years of use, but all in all it was in an adequate condition.
"Look, Darley! Look at what I have!" Dave squealed. The small hybrid below him shot him a stare, unresponsive to what he presented. "See? This was your daddy's favorite toy when he was a tiny baby like you.".
Dave set the toy down in front of his son.
"And now he's yours.". The angel watched in excitement, hoping Darley would light up any minute. However, that minute didn't come.
The kitten crawled towards the peculiar object, cocking his head at the thing. Whatever it was, it wasn't very interesting. His tail was clearly far superior to it in every way. Therefor, he began to chase it to the best of his ability.
Dave frowned, a bit of dejection stabbing him in the chest. To his disappointment, the infant had rejected his gift.
"I guess he doesn't like it as much as you do." Riley giggled. Dave fluttered his feathered wings, shaking off his sadness. He picked Cato up the floor, a smile plastered on his face.
"Oh well." He sighed. "Atleast I get to keep my toy."
