Maple Syrup

Maple Syrup

Number two of the day. I got this idea while I was studying history in class. The notes said that after the war our culture was introduced to many countries and one example was maple syrup in Japan. That's how I got the idea so I hope you enjoy.

Maple Syrup

Shuichi was happily walking back home looking forward to a nice bowl of vanilla ice cream with the foreign maple syrup. He had discovered this delicacy only last week while he had been grocery shopping. This so called maple syrup came from a country named Canada that was situated north of New York. Just thinking of the gooey sweet substance brought water to his mouth. He quickly made his way home and nearly ran in the apartment that he shared with his lover.

Unfortunately, when he got to the cupboard where he had stored the bottle of the syrup it was nowhere to be seen. He searched in every imaginable place he could think of, but it wasn't there. He looked for another half hour before giving up.

Just as he slumped into a chair, the door opened to reveal his handsome lover walking in. "What the hell happened in the kitchen?" He asked once he saw the mess in the mentioned room. Shuichi looked behind him and winced. He had made a really big mess.

"I couldn't find the maple syrup." Shuichi simply said.

"You wouldn't find it even if you emptied out the entire house." The novelist added stoically. The singer did not understand and by the perplexed look that he gave his lover, Eiri explained as quickly and clearly as possible.

"I found it, I tried it, I liked it, and I finished it." He said. The moment those words were said; a huge smile appeared on Shuichi's face.

"Oh! You should have said so. I thought that some space aliens had kidnapped it or that the Canadians were mad and stole it from us."

"That's nice." The novelist said leaving him alone. It was once he was gone that Shuichi realized that the cold, sweet hatter lover that he had that rarely smiled or ate sweets had finished an entire bottle of maple syrup and had actually enjoyed it.

"Wait a minute; you finished three quarters of a bottle of maple syrup by yourself?" He called after the novelist.

"Maybe I did, maybe I didn't." Was all he got as an answer.
