Awkward

Jackie was on her way to pick up the pizza take out order Nick had ordered a little bit ago. She was stopped at a red light when her foot accidently slipped off the brake and she gently tapped the car in front of her.

"Shit." She said out loud.

When the light turned green the driver ahead of her started going so she followed.

The car turned into a nearby parking lot and so Jackie pulled in behind it. It was a busy street but in Vegas you never knew so she locked her door and barely rolled down the window but as soon as the other driver got out she knew she had nothing to worry about.

"Jim I am so sorry, Nick's right, I am a klutz."

"Jackie?" He asked with a smile.

"Hi, I'm sorry, let me find my insurance information. I should know better than to drive in flip flops, hell I shouldn't even wear them."

He laughed.

"Listen don't worry about it, this car is so old I couldn't care less, and you barely left a mark. One reason I don't buy a new car is so I don't have car payments but the other reason is so when something like this happens I don't have to get all freaked out about it, this car has so many dents in it that yours will just add to the collection."

"Still I want pay for what I did." Jackie insisted.

"Come here a minute." Brass said as he motioned her out of her car.

Jackie got out of the car. He led her to the other side of the car and nodded. There was a bright green streak running down the side of it.

"What happened?" Jackie asked.

"I don't know, I came out of the grocery store and it was like that, and whoever did it didn't leave insurance information, had I been driving a new car I would have been furious, but as it is I just shrugged. There are real benefits to driving a clunker."

"Listen since you won't let me pay for the damage, I'm on my way to pick up some pizzas, at the very least let me buy you some lunch."

"You don't have to do that, really, it's no big deal."

"I know, but I want to, please."

"Well alright, and I don't mean to be totally rude but I'll have to get mine to go, I have to meet Catherine in an hour to discuss details about a case, if she's nice I might even share my pizza with her."

Jackie laughed.

They then got back in their cars and headed to the pizza parlor.

While walking into the restaurant Jackie tripped, and she would have fallen right on her face if Brass hadn't caught her.

"You really do need to get rid of those shoes." He advised.

"They are going in the garbage as soon as I get home, I think the strap is even coming loose, they are junk."

He laughed.

"Thanks for lunch Jackie." He told her once they had both gotten their pizzas.

"Sure, it's the least I could do after what I did, again, I'm sorry about that."

"No worries, see you later, and throw those shoes away." He advised.

"Duly noted." Jackie answered.

Jackie got home with the pizzas but before even eating anything she in fact did throw the shoes away!

The End!
