When a child is born they have the first thing that their soulmate will say to them written on their wrist and as they grow up they feel when the other is injured until the point when they figure out who their soulmate is when Carmilla was born she had two words on her wrist, "It hurts" and once Carmilla was old enough to understand what it said she didn't understand why would these be the first words her soulmate said to her?
When she was nine she found herself unable to catch her breath in school when she suddenly had what she felt was unbearable pain throughout her neck and chest, she was immediately sent to the school nurse who had her lie down and rung for someone to come and collect her, that was the worst pain she'd ever felt, for around four years she didn't feel any more pain then just before her 14th birthday she felt a pain in her shoulder for around 30 seconds then it went, not long after this became a regular occurrence she'd feel pain for a short period of time in different areas of her body usually her arms or legs, then after around 6 months she felt pain in her head then stomach it felt as though someone had just punched her in the gut only they didn't stop, she managed to get herself to the janitors closet and locked the door before sliding to the ground clutching her stomach it last around 10 minutes before the pain starts to subside after another 15 minutes she emerges and tried to get on with the day as normal wondering if her soulmate was okay and what had actually happened to them.
That was the last time she had felt any major pain caused by her soulmate and now at 18 she still wonders what ever happened to her soulmate. She still has yet to meet them and she honestly wasn't sure if she wanted to if the first thing they'll say to her is in pain.
It was September and Carmilla was standing outside dorm 307 at Silas University, she looked back at the paper in her hand.
