A Gift She Never Expected
"Kurt, please be professional, I'm at work," Diane said to him, but could not keep a smirk off of her face. Even with all of the curtains covering the windows, Diane was still worried about what they were doing.
"I'm not stopping you from working," Kurt pointed out.
"No, but it's distracting," Diane said.
"So you're not enjoying it?"
"I'm enjoying it, but you can't do this now. What if someone would walk in here?" Diane asked. "I have a reputation to uphold."
"Don't worry so much about it," Kurt said. "If it happens then we'll deal with it."
"I just can't," Diane sighed. "I can't. What if I stopped by your place tonight? We could do it then."
"I'm leaving in the morning," Kurt reminded her.
"Oh, that's right..."
"Fine, I'll stop if you really want me to," Kurt said and looked over at her. "Even though this is the first time I've seen you in two weeks...and it is Valentine's Day."
"Well, it is Valentine's Day...half an hour, then that's it," Diane said. Kurt smiled and opened up the book America By Heart, finding where he left off. After she read Going Rouge, Diane told Kurt she refused to read any more books by Palin unless Kurt read them aloud to her (it was the only way she could enjoy them). Little did she know he would surprise her at work on Valentine's Day and read the book aloud as she continued to work. Half an hour passed and like they agreed, he let her continue to work without any distractions. Kurt kissed her goodbye and promised he'd call her. Later that night, after Diane finished all of her work, she still had a smile on her face. Even though the book was not one of her favorite choices, the guy who read it made this the best Valentine's Day she ever had.
