I pried my eyes open. Ouch. The blindingly painful sunshine forced my eyelids shut again. Everything hurt. My head, my stomach, my right arm, and the place where my left arm used to be. Was it worth it? I silently asked myself. That was some party we had last night. My thoughts were interrupted by a crewmember
"Ca"
"CA! " Getting ever closer.
"CA!"
"CAPTAIN!" cried Billy. I could sense him racing over the dunes to get to us, and also…. Shit. Today is just not my day.
"Huh?" Benn mumbled rousing from his snooze. He must feel it to. He knew I was not in a good mood. My head throbbed. As my crewmember round the corner bringing with him.
"Hi Hawkeyes! What a surprise?" I as glanced at the gleaming, black sword peeking over the swordsman's shoulder.
"I am not in a good mood right now, are you here to fight me?" I asked him. Automatically I began gearing my body up for a fight. My arm stopped hurting as I gripped my sword. My men sensed the change and mentally prepared themselves as well. Hawkeyes snorted,
"I don't fight one armed men." Huh, I could take him. I thought feeling slightly offended. Before I could respond he spoke again.
"I met some interesting pirates that reminded me of a story you told me long ago."
He tossed me a piece of paper,
"About a interesting kid from a village" added Hawkeyes. I barely heard him as I snatched the paper out of the air and found myself transported back 13 years to Dawn Island. Back to a little bar, in a little village, sitting next to a little boy. Granted he had aged, filled out, though only slightly. My heart rose. He is still the same, straw hat, bright smile, and all. I felt a pang of longing. I wanted to set sail to see how he is doing. He can't be far. Does he run around saying he will be the pirate king. What kind of crew does he have? Just one little…No! I reminded myself. I cannot get in the way of his dream no matter how such I want to go see him.
"What is it?" asked Lucky Roo, from my left.
"So you have come? Luffy!" I whispered triumphantly. Looking up I saw Benn smiling wide as well. Yasopp and Lucky Roo were also cracking grins.
I grinned back at them.
"Hey everyone let's celebrate" I yelled. My crew gaped at me, astonished.
"You still want to drink more!" They yelled, incredulously.
"Sure it's a very happy day today so we must drink? Do you want to join us Hawkeyes?" Looking back at Hawkeye, he seemed satisfied in my reaction to Luffy. I thrust a glass into his hand and poured it.
"Drink, Drink, Drink." I urged.
Even though I can't be there. I thought to myself, I will still celebrate his first step with him. I wonder what he is up to now?
