This was a challenge!! It wasn't required to be long, but it was a challenge from a friend and I took it, so there, screw you.
Disclaimer: I don't own them.
I crept away from the campsite for the final time. I'd done this before, leaving in the
middle of the night to meet with her. But this time, I was leaving for good. I couldn't bounce
back and forth like this any more, it was to stressful.
I couldn't tell Ash. I'd tried to write it in a note, explaining my sudden disappearance, but
there was no way to explain it with out hurting him. I knew he had a thing for me, even if he
wouldn't admit it, and if he found out I wasn't interested, I think he'd be more hurt and confused
than if I just left without a reason.
I felt a small severing as I left the camp. I'd been with him for the last year and a half or
so of my life, and I know I'd miss Brock's cooking... But I know neither one of the boys would
accept Cassidy as part of the group. She was also a member of Team Rocket, and therefore an
enemy. But what they didn't understand was that she could be such a sweet person, and had
actually helped them out of the jail. She knew it was me, when Pikachu had gone inside to get the
camera. She didn't say anything, though, she understood I was doing it for them, and she
admired me for having such devotion. That's what initially got her attention.
Two days later, she'd tracked me down in some more casual clothes, and somehow we
got to talking. She seemed so trustworthy, I'd found myself telling her my most intimate secrets,
above all being-
"I'm not really that attracted to guys."
Her eyebrows rose, and at first I was afraid I'd offended her, then she said, "Wow, you've
already decided that at your age?"
"Yeah, I suppose. I dunno, most girls started talking about boys years ago, and I just...
never really got interested, I guess. I'm more interested in girls."
"Why do you think that is?"
For 16 years old, she sounded a little like a psychologist.
"The female body is such a fascinating thing. They've got the same basic idea, but they're
never exactly alike. I don't know... It kind of draws my attention, more than boys."
"I've thought the same thing," She said, smiling at me.
We began meeting regularly (away from the boys, who would've totally lost it), and she
told me more about girl love girl ideas. I figured I was just weird; It turns out I'm not the only
one. And we grew closer, and, finally, became what you could call an item.
And then Ash started dropping hints.
"Hey Misty, cute shirt!"
"Uh, Ash, I've been wearing the same shirt since before we met."
"Well, it seems... cuter, today."
And they say puberty doesn't hit in a day.
And so, it was time to leave. Everything would've been fine if he hadn't started...
NOTICING me... But I guess nothing lasts forever, no matter how good or bad it is.
I looked back once. I could barely see the dying embers of the fire through the trees. Sighing, I
faced forward, and began walking again.
