My heart flutters. My mind begs me to go back, but my heart urges me on. I brush through the brambles, wincing as they tear at my skin. Finally, I have reached the WindClan border. I see his dark pelt stiffen, then relax and bound over to greet me.

"Leafpool" He calls in delight. Purring, he brushes his fur against mine. I gaze up at the claw moon.

"Oh, Crowfeather, what would I do without you?" I murmured.

"Oh, maybe you'd continue your duty as a medicine cat, instead of meeting me every night," he teases, his eyes narrowing.

My eyes roll. As the night goes on, the voice in the back of my mind grows stronger and stronger. It's saying you shouldn't be here; you shouldn't be here, till I can hardly hear myself think. I make an excuse and leave, promising to meet Crowfeather again in two sunrises.

I wander back to camp, where the first few warriors are stirring. I slip quietly into the medicine den, where Cinderpelt is still sleeping, thank StarClan. I curl into my nest, and I feel a wave of guilt flowing over me. It's a forbidden love! I'm a medicine cat apprentice, and we're in dofferent Clans! Yet my heart wont let me think anymore.

It's harmless, really, because my Clanmates don't have to know about it. And I wont fall behind in my duties. After all, they don't know what happens between us. They don't know what it's like to fall in love with a different Clan cat.

They don't know what happens, across the borders.
