Ok, this is my first attempt at any type of fanfic, so I chose my favorite,
NGE. This is supposed to take place after EoE. A little time has passed, so
he ain't in the best mental state either.

Poor Shinji,
His shoulders drooped as he accepted his fate.
Without a friend, without a love,
He has no one to turn too.
The people he knew and loved are dead,
Asuka, Misato, his mother, and yes, even his father.
Now he lies on his bed,
Staring to the wall, with his music playing.
He drifts into sleep.
Rei's face invades his dreams,
She invites him to a world of peace and tranquility.
He looks behind her and sees his mother,
In that fabled land.
She looks so happy.
Rei extends her arms to pull him through,
He lets her take hold and shows him to world he wanted.
His mother and father are standing there smiling,
They motion for him to follow as they walk,
Into the white shadows.
Shinji finds Misato and Asuka sitting at a table.
Asuka smiles, something Shinji never saw on her face before
Misato catches a beer tossed to her my Asuka.
"Join us Shinji, become one with our mind and body,
It can be very, very nice."
Shinji looks around to see his childhood friends, glad to see him.
They laugh without noise and disappear into the air.
Shinji's heart races as he turns to the now-empty table
His mother falls to her husband's side and sinks into the ground
The white floor turns red.
Shinji runs to where his mother was,
But his father pushes him back.
Shinji falls back and through the floor,
As he falls, he sees his mother,
She looks to him and smiles.
Shinji wakes up to the clicking of his tape,
He sits upright with his eyes wide open.
"Why can't these dreams stop?
Wasn't this supposed to be a perfect world?"
"It is, it is my perfect world" Rei responds from the nearby bed.
