Chapter 1: The Tracking

Alfëa had long black hair and bright green eyes; she was young, strong, well built and not afraid to speak her mind. Both her parents died when she was a baby, she doesn't know how or why and those who know (she suspect they know) won't tell her. She was brought up in Naowen's family and has learned to speak elvish with her. An elf found her and her slaughtered parents in the woods when but a baby and took her, he gave her to Naowen's father do be brought up by him and his wife. She has lived with Naowen, her four brothers and their parents ever since. The brothers taught her to use a bow and later she learned how to use a sword. She travelled a lot with Naowen and has seen many places in middle-earth: they were almost considered Rangers.

Naowen had long brown hair, which was very rare amongst the Elves, and she was tall and beautiful. She was a bit on the shy side, unlike Alfëa but a great fighter. Her family adopted Alfëa when she was a baby and since then they were inseparable. She taught Alfëa many things, including how to speak Elvish, songs, reading, writing for she was already many years old when Alfëa entered her life.

Both women were walking quietly and quickly in the wilderness; they had come back from a trip to the Sea a few months after the Fellowship had left Rivendell. King Elrond was not at ease for he needed to keep his men in case war was to come and he wasn't sure of sending women to achieve his task. He finally decided upon sending both Alfëa and Naowen to Gondor. Elrond decided that the two would go see how the Fellowship was doing, to see if it needed back-up. After many months of hard riding, the young women arrived at Parth Galen where the path seemed to disappear. Or at least, only part of it could be found. They followed a small path, riding quickly, but only two people had walked there, apparently following a company of Orcs. Their horses were quick as lightning, coming from the land of Rohan, which they had just entered. Alfëa rode a black horse with a white head, which no one seemed to like because of this abnormality and Naowen passed the miles riding a bay one. They followed tracks that led to the North, picking up signs of Gimli, son of Gloin and Aragorn, son of Arathorn. They quickly rode on and after many days Naowen halted her horse, putting her hand above her eyes to shield from the sun,

"I see a cloud formed by the hoofs of many horses upon the Earth." Alfëa quickly stopped hers too,

"Your elf eyes are better than mine for I see nothing beyond those hills; but let's ride on! They can only be riders from Rohan."

Both woman therefore rode on harder towards the Riders Naowen had seen. After a few hours, the sun was dropping low in the sky but Alfëa could now see the riders. Naowen was sure they were Humans, but did they serve the Eye or not? That was what they were both wondering. They rode even harder, trying to reach the Riders as quickly as possible, but as they were approaching they witnessed something they had never seen nor heard of before. The Riders were circling three men, or rather, a man, an elf and a dwarf. They stopped on top of a nearby hill, watching what was happening. When the Riders' leader jumped from his horse to speak with the three members of the Fellowship, Alfëa and Naowen spun their horses forward and breaking through the tight circle, dismounted.
