Alone

Disclaimer: Baldur's Gate belongs to Black Isle studios, not me. I make no money from this. Suing me would have no effect, I have no money.

A/N: This is a very short story that I wrote for another site but I've decided to put it up here as well. The main character, in case it isn't entirely clear, is a half-drow. This could fit in with the longer story that I'm (slowly) writing about her (which I've just taken down for some major corrections) but it wasn't intended to. Her name's Kelyra if you're interested.

The guard walked away. He carried no guilt with him; felt nothing for what he had done. Had the world been a just one he would have been struck down by a flash of lightning from the clear night sky.

But the world was far from just. The evidence of that lay crumpled on the ground under the stars. That evidence was the body of a young woman whose flesh still live but whose spirit had that night been slain.

Tears ran silently down her black cheek. Silver hair spread over the ground in sweaty strands. Brown eyes stared out at the world in disbelief at the 'justice' that had been exacted that night. The ripped clothes she clutched about her told the tale that had befallen her.

Only one question ran through her traumatized mind. Why me? She knew the answer well; she had known it her entire life, had heard it that very night. "Filthy half-bred whore. Go back to your black kindred."

But they wouldn't have me either. Would anybody? Gorion loved me. But he was the only one who did. Why did he leave me so alone?

Nobody answered. No denials of her quiet despair echoed from the heavens. She cried alone.

A/N: Well? What do you think?
