He is the guy who fixes — but mostly breaks — things. She is the girl who uses her wit — instead of her stunning beauty — to weasel her way out of tough situations. They come together under the stars, and are match made in the Hades. Their nights are fast and whispered and oh, living on the edge has never felt so good.

They can't risk being found out. She has Jason — sweet, heroic Jason — and he is still hopelessly chasing after Thalia, Jason's ever-sarcastic sister, who was just starting to like him back. This doubled the chances of his best friend breaking his face if he ever learned of the deal Leo and Piper had together.

No, they're not in love. They don't plan on being together forever. They don't even plan on having a relationship six weeks from now. But they are each other's escape. They are there, they are attainable, and they are comfort. Piper doesn't dream of Leo as her prince, or Knight in Shining Armor. He is the guy who provides a sweet release from the tragic messed up reality she calls life. To Leo, Piper is not the girl of his dreams. She is simply his best friend's girlfriend, a close friend of his, and the only person he would risk all of this for.

Not a big deal.

At least, that's what Leo tells himself as he watches Piper curl up next to Jason at the campfire. He's not jealous, he tells himself. After all, he's holding a sleeping Thalia in his arms. The daughter of Zeus looks adorable with her nose unconsciously scrunched up in dream, and he shouldn't be thinking about the Aphrodite spawn, at least not now.

But as she looks at him from her face's position nestled in Jason's chest, he knows she's thinking the same thing. He slowly and gently moves Thalia's head from his lap, and sneaks off to the woods where Festus is probably roaming free. He can faintly hear the light footsteps behind him and then it's a game of chase-and-catch, the predator and prey switching sides every few minutes.

It's times like these that make Leo want to forget it all and run away with this beautiful girl, but as the lightning flashes across the sky, Leo knows it's a warning: Do it and die, demigod, the lightning says. So as soon as their playful frolicking ends, he slips back into his place with Thalia, Piper walks back into Jason's arms. It's a silent agreement.

They need to stop.

They are going to stop.

They are going to forget this ever happened.

They are screwed.

Because as soon as their eyes meet, they both know it's impossible. They have become something more than an escape. It's an obsession; a drug. And if someone didn't stop him, he'd be singing sleazy pop songs about the drug of love.

So. LeoxPiper is officially my Heroes of Olympus OTP. xD

Thanks much to Peter Ji for looking this over and making sure it's not complete crap.

So, yah. Review?
