The Stranger
He sits on the sidewalk beside the street
He doesn't seem the person you'd want to meet.
His clothes are old, tattered and torn
The shoes on his feet are souless and worn.
You try to pass by but he lifts up his hand
He mumbles something you try to understand.
He just wants an ear to hear his story
Of how he began in pain and ended in glory.
You sit next to him as he speaks of his life
He tells you of his triumphs and strife.
He tells you of a man called Jesus
And how He came to save and redeem us.
You listen intently as he continues to speak
What he says really makes you think.
His voice slowly fades and you get up to leave
You're thankful for the Gift you just received.
You have a friend in Jesus is what you now know
You travel on through life sharing this Gift as you go.
You will always remember that fateful day
And the stranger who stopped you along your way.
He sits on the sidewalk beside the street
He doesn't seem the person you'd want to meet.
