Dean yawned widely, hand raking through his hair, gaze lingering worriedly on the flushed face of his brother twitching restlessly above the worn covers.
Unconsciously he reached out, brushing strands of sweat-dampened hair from Sam's forehead, grimacing at the radiated heat.
Eyelids flickered, glazed hazel eyes struggling for focus. Dean leant forward, smiled.
"Hey, how're you feeling, Sammy?"
"C…c…cold, Dean." Sam whispered hoarsely, "m'throat hurts."
"Dad's gone for some medicine… Here."
Sam sipped from the proffered glass, coughed, groaned, and sagged against his brother's arm, exhausted by the effort.
"He'll be back soon…" Dean glanced longingly at the motionless door.
