yamishun: Umm, some parts can be interpreted in two ways. I guess the best advice I could give you guys while reading this is stick to the manga... or the anime if you haven't read the manga yet. The fic is in Mikan POV. xD sorry, I'm on a roll with one shots about Gakuen Alice. I've posted the part 2 of A Little Too Late's 10th chapter. -stifles a yawn- I'm so sleepy.

(A Gakuen Alice Fanfiction)

Who could've known?

Who could've foretold that things would eventually lead us down this path?

My hand rested on top of his, holding it tightly, just to make sure he couldn't take his hand away. It was funny when you think about how we came to where we are right now, sitting on a bench, our hands intertwined. I came here to see a friend and I met him instead. I don't know if it was a fated encounter that day I first laid eyes on the tall bricked wall exterior of the National Alice Academy or if it was purely coincidental. Whatever it was, I'm glad he tried to escape that day. Yes, I'm even willing enough to acknowledge that it was a good thing he saw my polkadotted panties that day. We would never be in situations much like this one if not because of those.

The sky was clear and I couldn't help but smile lightheartedly. It was a perfect day to reminisce. I turned to him with the smile still spread on my lips.

Who could've known?

Everyone thinks that it was him who needed me. My brightness to light the veil of darkness that has kept him for so long. Why is it that nobody sees that without him I am useless and with no purpose? People tend to forget that light cannot be seen without darkness, like the multitude of stars visible only during the night, when there is an absence of light.

"Natsume!"

He looked at me. The hesitancy in his eyes were clear. It was as if he were afraid to lose himself in my eyes, much like how I drown in those unique ruby red orbs whenever my eyes meet his. Like right now, there's this feeling that I could stare at the depths of those brilliant irises forever.

"Let's go back together."
