TAKING HER
"That wasn't a kiss!" she asserted quite loudly, for how many times now, he was not sure.
Was she really just embarrassed about the incident, or was it because she disliked him so much that her denial was as persistent as snowfall during winter?
Natsume believed it was the second reason, and as much as his pride would not admit it, his heart felt a pang. Was this rejection right in front of his face? He hoped, oh by God, he hoped he was wrong, because no matter how he had tried to stop himself from falling for her, fate seemed to ridicule him by weaving him a great irony. And with that, he could not help but harbor a little spark of hope to have her, even for only a while.
Would it be so selfish of him to wish for this girl, Mikan Sakura, to be his? It was Christmas, after all; it was the season for giving. This time, he would do the taking.
So without further hesitation, even though he was aware that this was an enormous risk, he grabbed Mikan's collar and pulled her close so that their lips met in an instance of overflowing emotions. His eyes were closed and calm, not betraying the surge of feelings he tried so hard to keep. His heart mercilessly rammed his ribs that for a spilt second he thought his chest would rip open.
Euphoria. He could not explain it.
But it had to end soon, he knew.
A hand pressed on his chest, and Mikan pushed him away as she took a deep breath she failed to catch. Was this proof reinforcing what he had concluded—and had prayed against—earlier?
No more. He did not want to think about it anymore, for he was careful not to break his composure and succumb to the vulnerability Mikan could unknowingly place him on.
"That's because earlier, you said it wasn't a kiss," he said, almost down to a whisper, as he put on the most impassive face he could muster.
And then, he simply needed to walk away.
