Abnormality

Prologue

As I crawl out of bed I hear a loud crash and the ship heaves, I dash out of my room to be stopped by a crew member in the hall.

"Captain" he cries. "An unknown ship appeared out of no where and opened fire upon us!"

'"Damage report?" I ask upon hearing the news.

"Sir, the hull has been breached and we are losing oxygen at a unstoppable rate!" he tells me

I order him to return to his station and run down the hall towards the communication center as quickly as I can. As I enter the room the two men stationed there stand at attention. I order them out of the room and to assist in repairs. Only once the both of them are gone do I sit down in front of the microphone and prepare to make my last announcement as this ships head of command .

I hit the start broadcast button and speak to my men.

"Men, you have served me well, and you know as well as I do that this ship wont last much longer. That is why I am ordering you all to make for the escape pods and leave me here. The attackers are more than likely after me and as long as they know I am still on the ship they wont peruse you during your escape."

As soon as the words leave my mouth I hear a large response of discontent from my men. "DO YOU THINK WE ARE GOING TO ABANDON YOU CAP?" "I WOULD RATHER DIE THEN TURN TAIL AND RUN". As I expected of my men, the most loyal in the star system.

I start laughing to myself before addressing my men again. "You are not running, nor are you abandoning me. You are fallowing and order directly from your captain!" I yell into the receiver. "DON'T THINK ME SO SMALL A MAN TO ORDER YOU LOT TO LEAVE ME TO DIE." I holler into the mic. " I simply wish for you men to die for something worth while, not defending me. Im sure you all understand what I mean by that"

"…" the ship's crew fall silent. Knowing full well what I mean. one by one they start flowing into the escape pods, until I am the last man left on the ship. I offer a final salute to my men as they drift of into space, knowing full well that this will be that last time I will see them.

I then move towards my quarters and prepare for the end of this. As I sit down in my chair I see a large beam of light heading towards me, fired from the other ship.

The men shout in victory as there last shot finishes off the ship in a large fiery explosion . The captain of the enemy vessel asks for confirmation of the death of the ships captain, the scout ship confirms that there is no life left in the vicinity.

Well what did you think? This will be the first story I have ever written. I apologies for any grammatical errors on my part. This has been a story I have wanted to write for quite a long time now so it will be quite long and I do have a lot of it planed out already. The uploading of this story will be all over the place as I am in the middle of getting some stuff done home wise but i hope to continue working on this for a long time. Hope you enjoyed the prologue to my first story Abnormality.
