"Is this urgent, Kudo-kun?" it was ten in the morning. Where's her coffee? She needs her coffee to handle whatever it is he has planned.
"Of course!" Shinichi's grin only made her more suspicious, "close your eyes and hold out your hands."
She glared, "Why?" he's never been one for surprises. She sure doesn't like surprises and he knows that. Even more suspicious.
"C'mon! Trust me on this!" she wants to wipe that grin off his face.
"No," she turned and walked back to the kitchen. She needs coffee.
She heard him sigh and call to someone, "OK, you can come out now."
Come out? She didn't see him hiding anything. Her stubbornness told her not to turn back. She was making her coffee until something furry rubbed against her legs.
Had she not been holding a pot of boiling water, she would've gave a small yelp, she looked down to find a ginger cat making itself comfortable in the gaps between her feet, still rubbing against her.
The front door closed, and she turned as he walked towards her, demanding answers.
"It's your birthday, don't tell me you forgot?" he raised his eyebrows, but she didn't miss the small glint of victory in his eyes.
"Of course I didn't," she averted his gaze, hiding her growing blush. The cat now snuggling between her legs, meowing to get both of their attention.
"Sure," he smirked.
The cat purred and rubbed against her hand as she pet its head, "…Thanks."
"You're welcome."
