AN: Another tag to episode 13x23. I really loved the boy's reaction when they realised that they succeeded in killing Lucifer. Especially Sam's reaction. That smile said everything. I wanted to explore that scene a tiny bit more. I couldn't resist.
Again not beta'd, all the mistakes are mine. Hope you enjoy this little piece!
He's dead. The thought repeats itself over and over. And he says it out loud, too. As if he wants to taste the words, wanting to know that it's real and not some trick. He takes in a large shuddering breath and suddenly thinks he might cry. He turns to Dean. "You did it." The words come out wobbly and a breath hitches in his throat. The feelings threaten to overwhelm him. Relief and happiness are coursing through his body, and a foreign sadness causes his throat to tighten. The large, crushing weight that had settled on his chest is gone. He takes another breath. It's easier. The task of breathing is easier now than it has been in years. His eternal tormentor, his greatest nightmare—the one who made his life (and death) a living hell—is dead. Gone. Lying on the ground.
"No. No, we did it!"
Dean's answer is fierce. They both smile, and for a moment they feel free. But then Dean's smile fades and everything goes south. And before Sam can process what has happened, Dean is gone. Leaving him and Jack behind, the sound of fluttering wings echoing in their ears.
